Unit Clerk - Sub Acute Care
St. John's Hospital Camarillo


We are seeking a Unit Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong administrative support experience working in a hospital setting. Excellent customer service and communication skills.


Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates proficient clerical skills.
  • Participates in department meetings
  • Acts as a resource to new employees relating and orientating to the unit/department
  • Maintains a positive environment within the unit/department, as well as presenting a positive, professional image to customers and the public.
  • Demonstrates an approachable and non-defensive behavior.
  • Reacts calmly and efficiently in emergencies.
  • Demonstrates clear and effective English oral and written skills and active, objective listening skills.
  • Demonstrates phone courtesy by presenting positive professional image.
  • Keeps nursing station clean and well stocked.
  • Manages front dest activities including but not limited to: phones, greeting visitors, census paperwork, reports discharges.
  • Arrange for care and maintanence of unit equipment.
  • Participate in required audits.

Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Successful completion of unit clerk training course or equivalent experience in an on-the-job orientation
  • Current CPR certification (CT CPRBLS)

Preferred Requirements:
  • A minimum of six (6) months recent acute care experience as an unit clerk

Special Skills:
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of basic arithmetic basic medical terminology clerical practices and procedures
  • Demonstrates caring behaviors by displaying positive cheerful attitude towards guests and co-workers courteous telephone manners
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently
  • Communicates well and clearly both orally and in writing using the English language spells correctly writes legibly
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instruction in exact detail
  • Preserves the confidentiality of medical records
  • Reacts calmly and efficiently in emergencies
  • Ability to operate common office equipment
  • Adheres to dress code
  • Demonstrates good interpersonal skills and ability to work with others across all departments
This position is represented by SEIU-UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Pay Range

$22.06 - $27.71 /hour
