Job description
Services all plant equipment, electric motors, pumps, wells, rotating assemblies, blowers, motor starters, motor controls, and electrical control cabinets. Installs, packs, and adjusts well shafts, belts, and pulleys. Maintains and repairs portable and emergency generators; checks and adjusts engine oil, coolant, and distilled water to batteries; checks voltage to battery chargers, emergency transfer switch, and test generator for proper functioning. Handles service orders and tasks generated by plant operators as equipment needs maintenance or repair. Removes, repairs, and replaces lift stations, water and wastewater plant motors, blowers, pumps, valves, pipes, and equipment. Works special city-sponsored events, including Independence Day, Spooktacular, and Christmas Parade; sets up and removes generator and power supply to city-sponsored events as needed. Ensures compliance with FDEP permit and keeps abreast of updated compliance rules and regulations.
Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent. Requires four years' experience in maintenance of water and waste water equipment or closely related experience.

Must possess or obtain within six months of appointment to the position a Class "B" CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsements and valid DOT medical card. Requires FDEP Waste Water Collections license and a FDEP Water Distribution license or the ability to acquire same within one year of employment. Position is subject to being "on call" and working after normal City work hours as well as on weekends and holidays.
