    New Canaan Public Schools has a vacancy for a social worker or school psychologist for its alternative high school. This is a 10 month position with salary and benefits per the NCEA teachers' contract. All applicants must hold or be eligible for appropriate CT certification.

    Social Worker/School Psychologist
    NEW CANAAN PUBLIC SCHOOLS
    Overview: Responsible for service delivery of all clinical services of the High School Alternative Program.
    Responsibilities:

    • Provides evidence-based clinical services such as DBT to students and families including individual and group counseling and regularly scheduled parent support and training
    • Coordinates all clinical services of the program
    • Facilitates intake process for admission to the program and maintains ongoing communication with high school staff
    • Develops and implements additional programming and alternative learning experiences for students to support success
    • Works with teaching and clinical staff to develop individual support plans for students
    • Develops and maintains a supportive school culture that values individual learning styles
    • Provides information and referrals to families regarding community-based resources
    • Provides conflict resolution, problem solving and crisis intervention with students using evidence-based practices
    • Develops relationships with key stakeholders in the community that interface with the Alternative Program
    • Performs additional duties as assigned
    Qualifications:
    • Masters degree in Social Work, or School Psychology
    • Holds, or is eligible for Connecticut State Certification in Social Work or School Psychology
    • Experience with alternative programs for students with mental health and learning needs desirable
    • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
