Career Opportunity – Vice President for Family Services with Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission in Covington, KY

The Vice President for Family Services will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for these program areas: Community Services, Lincoln Grant Scholar House, Financial Empowerment, Energy, YouthBuild, and Health Benefit Assister services. The position will be a part of the agency's executive team that drives the overall strategy for the organization and represents Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission on a local, regional, and national basis. The VP for Family Services will focus on program leadership and management, external relationships, and knowledge management.
This individual must be a strong communicator, effective relationship builder, be results-oriented, and provide vision and leadership in order to fulfill NKCAC's mission. This full-time, exempt position is based in Covington, Kentucky and reports to the Executive Director.
Representative Responsibilities include:
Strategy, Vision, and Leadership:
- Advise the executive team, board of directors, and program directors on development, fundraising, and public relations opportunities, needs, and threats.
- Serve as the management liaison for the Lincoln Grant Scholar House advisory committee.
- Effectively communicate and present program information at the select board of directors and committee meetings.
- Contribute to the development of the Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission's strategic goals and objectives as well as the overall management of the organization. Ensure staff understands and embrace organizational vision as established in Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission's Strategic Plan.
Team Leadership and Program Management:
- Attract, develop, coach, and retain high-performance team members, empowering them to elevate their level of responsibility, the span of control, and performance. Ensure staff members receive timely and appropriate training and development, support, and discipline when warranted. Mentor staff toward top performance.
- Oversee, direct, and organize the work of the neighborhood centers, health care enrollment, YouthBuild, and Lincoln Grant Scholar House teams, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
- Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence by assuring compliance with all program and grant requirements, including eligibility guidelines for clients and CSBG Organizational Standards, as they apply to program responsibilities.
- Develop, analyze, and manage program budgets. Develop or assist in the development of proposals, grant applications, and program plans to maintain, enhance and expand program operations for programs assigned.
External Relationships:
- Serve as one of two agency representatives on the Community Action Kentucky Board of Directors.
- Maintain regular communication with program administrators (e.g., DCBS, Winterwood, YouthBuild USA, CAK, etc.)
- Attend local community meetings; serve on local boards and councils, as appropriate. Publicize the agency and program services in the community; provide technical assistance for program staff relating to outreach, volunteer recruitment, and public relations.
- In coordination with other staff, develop and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with community partners in the social service, civic, government, and faith-based communities to ensure coordination of services for low-income clients. Manage relationships with partner organizations.
Knowledge Management:
- Develop the necessary systems, processes, and tools to better support the facilitation, collection, and sharing of knowledge that is generated by the programs.
- Maintain program databases and computerized and physical files for all clients for all counties. Print and analyze computer and other reports, as required, and assure timely and appropriate completion of reports from assigned staff.
- Manage outcomes planning and reporting process, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, ROMA outcomes, CSBG milestones, MIS, DYB, and other data management and reporting requirements.
- Work collaboratively with the executive team to develop and integrate cross-program activities and functions.

Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required, with master's preferred and at least 10 years of management experience.
- Budgeting and financial management experience.
- Supervisory experience.
- Experience in the social services, human services, or nonprofit space.
- Experience or education in, performance-based and outcome-based programs.
- Experience with recruiting, managing, and developing a strong team of staff, program/project managers, and development professionals.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of community partners to build long-term relationships.
- Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people, including diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
- A professional and resourceful style; the ability to work independently and as a team player, to take initiative, and to manage multiple tasks and projects at a time, positively impacting both strategic and tactical duties.
- Advanced computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn specialized computer databases, as needed.
- Travel is a requirement of this position.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and current car insurance.
