The Vice President (VP), Europe Global Forwarding is a highly visible role and a unique opportunity to make a broad impact on a Fortune 200 company with an excellent reputation in the logistics industry. The VP has high-level oversight for strategic business planning, financial management, process implementation and improvement, talent management and execution to ensure that quality, growth, and efficiency goals are met within the service line.
The VP, Europe will oversee one of the most unique and diverse regions in the C.H. Robinson network consisting currently of 12 countries, including oversight of both, commercial and operations. The incumbent must have experience in managing a book of business and a team of country-level management. He/she will be required to continue to grow the region in alignment to the global forwarding direction through leadership, mentoring and coaching with the global network.
This position needs to be located in one of C.H. Robinson’s offices in the Netherlands.
Responsibilities:
- Sets, articulates, and leads regional execution and strategy aligned to broader GF divisional strategy
- Aligns performance objectives to CHR’s strategic objectives
- Utilizes analytics to drive improved business decision making, drive efficiency, quality and profitability, and effectively accesses and leverages organizational resources to help improve processes, productivity and results
- Accountable for the financial performance of the region that focuses on Operating Income and AGP growth as well as controlling Personal Expense/ AGP ratios
- Ability to balance growth in volume while maintaining the right financial ROI’s
- Engages in the budgeting process, monitors financial reports, metrics and analytics, and adjusts business processes, strategy, and resources accordingly
- Oversees and adheres to workplace conduct, risk management and compliance practices
- Cascades communications to Regional & Commercial Directors, General Managers (GM’s) and employees across the region as appropriate
- Visibly leads and supports change management for Global Forwarding including active involvement in communication, implementation, and reinforcement
- Develops and maintains external relationships representing CHR at an executive level to ensure market visibility and brand enhancement (i.e. customers, shippers, carriers, industry groups, etc.)
- Strong commercial and customer focus, supporting the acquisition and retention of key customers in the region
- Strategically engaged in opportunities to optimize resources, drive process improvement and consistency, maximize efficiency and ensure quality
- Partners with functional leadership across various service lines and regions to develop and implement execution strategies
- Manages the performance and development of direct and indirect reports through both formal and informal performance management, coaching and feedback, mentoring and training and developmental tools
- Assesses, calibrates, and manages talent, leveraging analytics and observation to align roles and resources appropriately; focuses on and advocates for individual and team development, career pathing and succession planning.
- Visibly aligned with the company’s diversity and inclusion initiatives
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 15 years of Senior Management experience preferably with a global NVOCC
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 10 years of direct people management experience
- Ability to travel up to 50%

- Strong business, commercial acumen and strategic capabilities, including but not limited to understanding of new customer acquisition, regional expansion, P&L structures, and aligning numbers to actions from AGP, OPEX, OPINC, and headcount metrics
