The VP- Compliance assists the Credit Union in preventing, detecting, and mitigating compliance, regulatory, and reputational risk and helping to strengthen the Credit Union's culture of compliance.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Live the Kohler Credit Union Mission, Vision, and Values within the organization and our communities.
  • Provide leadership to staff to maximize their performance, help advance their growth and development, and achieve the credit union's goals. Ensures performance issues are addressed and documented in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the Bank Secrecy Act Program to ensure BSA compliance and reporting requirements, as the Bank Secrecy Officer.
  • Provide direction to the development of a comprehensive compliance management program, including implementation of new regulatory requirements, ongoing monitoring of existing compliance requirements, management of Credit Union policies, and working with business units to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
  • Provide oversight and management of fraud.
  • Communicate new regulatory requirements simply and efficiently to affected business units to ensure compliance.
  • Provide leadership and subject matter expertise for compliance issues impacting members, team members, products, and services.
  • Responsible for developing short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operational procedures.
  • Serves as an in-house expert with respect to regulatory compliance matters to provide compliance advice and guidance to all credit union management and staff; answers management and staff compliance questions.
  • Identify and/or provide regular training to staff and the Board of Directors, including specialized training, as needed, to address ad hoc regulatory issues.
  • Research regulatory risks, documenting analysis, and communicating recommended or required remediation actions.
  • Serve as liaison between the compliance team and business units, supporting and driving new initiatives, products, and services, by being proactive in raising potential compliance issues and working with the senior team to identify appropriate procedures and actions to mitigate and/or control the risks associated with the identified issues.
  • Engage with lawmakers, regulators, and industry associations and provide comments on proposed rules and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the executive management team in development of policies and long-term goals. Work closely with management team in creating and implementing procedures, objectives, and short/long-term goals to help provide effective leadership for the credit union and its staff.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or deemed necessary in order to meet the credit union's goals and objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations and the ability to analyze and interpret regulations.
  • Relevant compliance certifications are strongly preferred.
