Position Overview:

Our Warehouse Team is seeking to hire an Assistant Warehouse Supervisor with at least 5 years of shipping/receiving experience and 3 years of supervisory experience to join our Syracuse showroom.

Responsibilities:

  • Help to manage team members (up to 10) and oversee warehouse loading and unloading of transfer trucks as well as transfer process and customer deliveries daily.
  • Assess team staffing needs and participate in interviews/hiring process.
  • Conduct quarterly check-in reviews to receiving team members and provide constructive feedback, as needed.
  • Handle disciplinary actions for shipping team members and complete required internal paperwork, as needed.
  • Organize and route deliveries to meet all time expectations on a daily basis.
  • Receive, inspect, document, and assist in storing product and future shipments.
  • Oversee daily logging of outbound deliveries, order verification and assist in loading trucks daily.
  • Communicate with customers, receivers, and staff for smooth preparation and delivery of material in a timely manner.
  • Stage loading and unloading areas with appropriate equipment, materials, and space.
  • Oversee Shipping and other warehouse processes and personnel to make sure work meets quality standards and is performed according to established procedures.
  • Provide training of current and new employees in all appropriate procedures and processes required to complete work assignments.
  • Provide daily work assignments to staff and work with managers and other supervisors to coordinate personnel and resources as necessary to complete all work scheduled for department.
  • Assist with the development, revision and enforcement of deliveries and procedures including record keeping, work instructions, and other standard operational and work practices, as necessary.
  • Operate lift trucks, pallet jacks, and other equipment to safely move parts to proper locations and load and unload trucks, as necessary.
  • Work closely with receiving clerk, completing tasks as needed.
  • Maintain a working fleet of vehicles to ensure proper maintenance is being adhered to meeting DOT standards.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of shipping/receiving of products and at least 3 years of managerial/supervisory experience is required.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Willing and able to operate material handling equipment.
  • Proficiency in computer systems, including Microsoft Suite and data entry systems
  • Ability to multitask and handle multiple issues at the same time, without stress.
  • Flexibility with schedule, as overtime is required as business needs warrant.
  • Must have reliable daily transportation to branch location.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • This job operates in a high traffic warehouse that is exposed to outdoor weather conditions. This position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time as well as the ability to lift 50 - 75 pounds. While mainly standard hours are scheduled for this position, flexibility is required to be able to ensure all orders and job duties are completed by end of shift.
