At Central Plateau Cleanup Company (CPCCo), located in Richland, Washington, we are working to provide a sustainable future for the historic Hanford area through the protection of the Columbia River and the remediation of the Central Plateau. The 300 Area End States Project (300 AES) oversees safe and compliant operation of the 324 Hazard Category II Nuclear Facility. This significant responsibility includes the retrieval, characterization, and packaging of legacy facility materials and equipment for on-site disposition, stepping out of Authorization Basis documents, shutting down facility systems, and preparing the facility for demolition and ultimately performing demolition of the 324 Facility and remediation of the remaining 300 Area waste sites. Our team is seeking a dynamic Waste Operations Manager to help us achieve our mission of this uniquely challenging project.

The 324 Remediation team is seeking an experienced Waste Operations Manager to perform the following:

  • Manage and lead waste efforts to establish, initiate, and implement processes to disposition 300 Area End States waste, primarily focused on the characterization, packaging, transport, and disposal of the highly contaminated 324 B-Cell debris and soil.

  • Provide lead role in developing disposition strategy for large hot cell and vault monoliths as part of facility demolition.

  • Perform work in a safe, compliant, and cost-effective manner.

Basic Qualifications
* US Citizen
  • Manager Grade 21 - BA/BS degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience, plus a minimum of 10 years relevant experience.
  • Manager Grade 22 - BA/BS degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience, plus a minimum of 10 years relevant experience.
  • Three years' Hazard Category II / III Nuclear Facility experience.

The higher posted level has greater scope, complexity, authority, impact. The level offered to the selected candidate will be based on the needs of the company and the candidate's education, training, and/or experience.

Desired Qualifications
* Certified radioactive/hazardous waste shipper (HAZMAT Certification – 49 Code of Federal Regulations [CFR]).

  • Able to develop cost effective and compliant transportation, storage and disposal options for difficult-to-treat wastes.

  • Previous experience with 10 CFR Part 830, Nuclear Safety Management.

  • Minimum 5 years' management experience overseeing waste operations personnel responsible for radioactive and hazardous waste disposition.

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for packaging and transporting radioactive and hazardous waste and materials to treatment and final disposal.

  • Able to identify opportunities for process improvements, streamline operations, develop and implement strategies, and accomplish waste management goals in restrictive environments/hot cells.

Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with the CPCCo salary determination process, CPCCo takes into consideration the level of assigned job duties and responsibilities, and the candidate's education, training, and/or experience relative to internal peers and the external labor market. CPCCo will not solicit salary history for candidates.

  • Grade 21: $135,188 - $170,463
  • Grade 22: $151,700 - $199,600

In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for variable pay awards.
