RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Repair, maintain, and test water mains, valves, and fire hydrants.
• Perform excavations and backfills and install temporary pavement repairs.
• Landscape and restore lawns to original condition.
• Locate water mains, service lines, and valves using pipeline location instruments and metal detectors.
• Responsible for operating various heavy equipment and assisting with maintenance of pump station equipment and water meters.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred.
• Knowledge of the materials and experience with methods and equipment used in repair and replacement of water mains, valves, and fire hydrants.
• Able to operate a variety of heavy machinery and equipment used in the repair and replacement of water mains, valves, and fire hydrants.
• Able to use GIS mapping tools.
• Able to carry out oral and written instructions.
• Available and willing to work significant amounts of unscheduled and scheduled overtime when necessary.
• Able to enter and exit excavations safely by use of a ladder.
• Performs duties with a high degree of safety in the work place, and complies with all City and department safety policies and requirements.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Indoor and outdoor working environment. May encounter hazards from working in extreme weather conditions as well as exposure to hot material, hazardous material, dust, and other allergens.
