Summary:

Granite Excavation is seeking experienced truck drivers. Granite is a family owned construction company in Cascade, ID, as well as operates out of the Treasure Valley and Emmett areas. We specialize in earthmoving, underground utilities, paving, and miscellaneous concrete structures in the public and private sectors. We also aim to provide turnkey GC packages in multiple private industries, as well as acting as General Contractors on complex public works projects. Applicant needs to have a valid driver's license, and the ability to pass a drug test.

Job Description:

One of the first tasks that have to be done is a careful vehicle inspection, complete walk around. The driver is responsible of making sure that the truck is properly loaded and secured before taking it out on the road. Drivers who operate vehicles that are able to transport 26,000 pounds or a heavier load of cargo, such as in a tractor-trailer, are required to obtain a CDL, or Commercial Driver s License.

  • tanker and hazardous material endorsements preferred
  • follow direction of foremen as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsite
  • timeliness - ability to ensure consistency on making all pick-ups and deliveries
  • stress management skills
  • physical stamina
  • keep record on amount and type of cargo being delivered, hours and job details
  • fill up on fuel, clean truck, and wash windows
  • report to manager any incidents/accidents, violations, damage to vehicle, vehicle malfunctions
  • report emergencies, problems, hazards
  • ability to perform roadside repairs, such as changing tires or installing light bulbs, tire chains, spark plugs, etc
  • collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes
  • review work orders or schedules to determine operations or procedures
  • knowledge of traffic regulations, safe and efficient operation

Additional Qualifications & Specialized Training Requirements:

  • CPR/First Aid Training
  • ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
  • ability to adjust to abrupt schedule changes and rotating work schedules
  • undergo environmental conditions such as excessive vibration, noise, and extreme temperatures
  • able to load and unload as much as 50,000 lbs. of freight after sitting for a long period of time without stretching
  • ability to lift 10-20 lbs.
  • bending, stooping, crouching, climbing, reaching

Working Conditions - physical, environmental, sensory and mental demands:

The unavoidable, externally imposed conditions under which the work must be performed and which create hardship for the incumbent including the frequency and duration of occurrence of physical demands, environmental conditions, demands on one's senses and mental demands.

The truck driver has a physically strenuous and demanding job. He/she will be lifting, pulling, and managing heavy equipment and objects. The truck driver will have to work in all weather, and must be prepared for both extreme heat and cold. The truck driver must ensure that all activities are completed in a safe and efficient way.

He/she must work outside and may at times be exposed to dangerous and/or toxic substances. Must take necessary precautions to protect eyes, nose and skin from irritation and infection.

The truck driver must work independently and is expected to maintain a schedule of work. Any problems or inconveniences may result in increased stress to complete tasks in a limited time.

  • 8-12 hour shifts Mon-Friday, sometimes Saturdays
  • Overtime availability
