Our waterfront and coastal design group is seeking a Waterfront/Coastal Engineer. Based in our Franklin, MA office, you will work on and manage aspects of a variety of coastal and waterfront projects including waterfronts and marinas, marine terminals, recreational piers, harbors, waterfront parks, living shorelines, coastal revetment/retaining walls and coastal resiliency and storm-hardening projects.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
- Work on and manage a variety of waterfront projects throughout the region.
- Lead teams performing above and below water field inspection.
- Serve as on-site representative to monitor construction activities.
- Perform engineering analyses and design. Perform computations, prepare spreadsheets & construction cost estimates, prepare and edit drawings using AutoCAD.
- Prepare reports.
- Assist in marketing and business development efforts including proposal preparation, client development, and networking.
- Mentor, coach and develop junior staff.
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S or M.S. in Civil Engineering, Coastal Engineering or, Ocean Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience working on coastal engineering design projects.
- Experience leading field teams.
- Ability to travel for site visits / inspections, client meetings, and business development opportunities (to include overnight travel, as needed).
- Candidate must have EIT and be actively seeking registration as professional engineer.
- Possess a valid driver s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Structural design experience with steel and concrete, as well as a working knowledge of geotechnical engineering to assist in the design of soil / structure interaction elements (e.g. bulkheads, retaining walls, and piles)
- Coastal design experience.
- Design experience of living shorelines and other soft solutions
- Experience preparing scope of work and fee estimates
- Experience with construction management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Small boat and/or SCUBA diving qualification with willingness to incorporate skills in workplace.
- Registered professional engineer in Massachusetts, or ability to obtain reciprocity in Massachusetts within 1 year of hire date.
