This position is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about designing complete systems and solutions that address a business need from start to finish. Our software development methodology emphasizes coding efficiency through the creation of reusable frameworks. The person in this role will design and implement the software development frameworks to expedite subsequent software development. The person is responsible for both the overall architecture of the frameworks and the implementation of the subsequent applications that use them. For that reason, the person will need to be able to see both the “big picture” as well as be able to roll up their sleeves and write the actual programming code.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement software development frameworks to expedite subsequent software development.
- Responsible for both the overall architecture of the frameworks and the implementation of the subsequent applications that use them.
- Partner with engineering and solution management teams to design solutions that address a business need from start to finish.
- Build customer-facing data products to provide insights and metrics which track performance.
- Implement analyses that drive to the root of the issue and create actionable insights or paths to solution.
- Liaise with business sponsors and stakeholders to ensure solutions meet expectations and deliver value
- Develop business process and data processing logic
Required Skills and Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 2+ years of experience with web application development using open-source tools in the data/BI space.
- Experience setting up a secure, popular, open-source web development stack (LAMP, Ruby on Rails, etc.)
- Experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and other browser-based technologies.
- Familiarity with building applications which may handle sensitive data and must integrate secure login protocols such as OAuth2, SAML and key pair, as well as two factor authentication.
- Familiarity with business analytic tools such as Power BI or Qlik.
- Familiarity with a programming/scripting language such as Python.
- Ability to create data models and write SQL queries.
- Experience creating and consuming web services/APIs.
- Familiarity working with Azure or AWS.
- Disciplined, organized self-starter, quick learner, and team player with a “can do” attitude.
- Strong verbal and written communication and data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
For Westchester County, the expected salary range for this position is between $135,000 and $170,000. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
