    JOB SUMMARY

    The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of the delivery of safe and effective patient-centered care in a variety of settings based on education, knowledge, skill set, and competency. The Registered Nurse communicates with physicians/Managers/co-workers, as appropriate about changes in patient’s clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in the departments with adequate supervision. Participates in performance improvement activities.


    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Administers all medications using appropriate safety precautions and personal protective equipment (PPE).

    • Prepares cancer patients, both physiologically and psychologically, for chemotherapy.

    • Instructs patients and families regarding home care following chemotherapy.

    • Coordinates and schedules patient care as necessary.

    • Assists in educating staff, students and other healthcare workers about chemotherapy safety and administration.

    • Assists in educating staff, students and other healthcare workers about central lines and central line care.

    OTHER DUTIES:

    • Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department / organization


    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

    Education / Experience / License and Certifications

    • Current unrestricted Wyoming Registered Nurse Licensure.

    • BLS certification, required.

    • BSN, preferred.

    • Additional certifications may be required based on unit assignment.

    • Minimum of one year of acute care experience, preferred.



    Department Specific Education / Experience / License and Certifications

    • Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate required within six months of position start date

    • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) required to be obtained in alignment with Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Standards

    If PRN status, Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Card and OCN are preferred, not required.
