SER of $4,126.60 per month / $23.79 per hr

DETAIL: The selected employee may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.- PROBATIONAL APPOINTMENT: Current permanent status classified State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment, if selected.
- TEMPORARY JOB APPOINTMENT: This position may be filled by temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
Exams and License Requirements- No Civil Service test score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy.

Function of Work:
To provide supervision, guidance, logistical support and limited administration to a group of welders performing journeyman level welding work.
Level of Work:
Supervisor.
Supervision Received:
General from maintenance supervisory personnel or agency administrator of higher level.
Supervision Exercised:
Line over journeyman welders, welder specialists, apprentices, helpers, and assistants assigned.
Location of Work:
All agencies.
Job Distinctions:
Differs from those of Welder and related jobs by its full time supervision over the assigned subordinates as well as additional duties such as designing, costing, supporting, and overseeing welding projects.
Differs from other supervisory jobs because of first-line welding supervision responsibility.
Supervises a crew of welders by assigning work and inspecting it regularly.
Participates in electrode and filler metal selection.
Supervises the erection of scaffolding and rigging when needed, and determines methods to be used.
Inspects welding, brazing and fitting-up while in progress.
Supervises welders engaged in the fabrication or repair of equipment, crew boats, barges, building and other metal objects.
Requisitions supplies and equipment, maintains a check on materials requirements, ensures the availability of supplies, and estimates the cost of individual jobs and amounts of materials necessary.
Keeps limited records on times worked and materials used by the crew and submits necessary reports.
Performs related work as assigned or when required.
Evaluates subordinates work performance.
