Wellness Assistant Buyer (Linden Hills)
Job description
Linden Hills Co-op is looking for an HBC Assistant Buyer to join our team. The HBC Assistant Buyer serves as a source of information and assistance to customers and keeps HBC areas stocked and orderly.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Customer service. Assist customers on the sales floor and over the telephone with questions and offer suggestions for purchase. Provide prompt, friendly, courteous responses with accurate information on product location, source, nutrition, and preparation (within legal guidelines). Perform research as needed to educate customers. Assist customers with special orders. Respond knowledgeably to customer questions about co‑op policies and products, referring customers to other employees/resources as needed. Convey approachable presence on the sales floor.
- Stocking. Stock and rotate displays according to the procedures outlined in department training. Follow the priorities set by HBC management, completing work in a timely manner. Accurately label and price non-scanned items. Report missing or inaccurate shelf tags to Scanning. Rotate overstock into storage and maintain order of backstock room.
- Work area maintenance. Maintain department's sales floor, shelving and displays, and storage and receiving areas in good order by removing trash, cleaning, wiping surfaces, picking up, etc.
- Order replenishment. As assigned by HBC management, place orders with established suppliers to maintain appropriate in-stock level. Coordinate returns and credit from suppliers as needed. Ensure accurate prices are punctually submitted to purchasing. With HBC management, set prices to achieve margin while maintaining competitive value.
- Knowledge development. Stay current on new products and specials. Stay current on customer policies, including returns, special orders, etc. Attend vendor-sponsored trainings and other training opportunities as opportunities arise. As time permits, read department reference materials and use the Internet and other resources to increase knowledge.
- Communication and cooperation. Attend HBC department meetings and communicate regularly with HBC staff to ensure department cohesion and customer satisfaction. Read department logbook at the beginning of every shift.
- Safety. Work in a safe manner, following safety procedures.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Some retail experience preferred, including some experience working with health and body care products.
- Positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- Demonstrated ability to apply sound judgment to complex or ambiguous situations, applying appropriate limits and boundaries to customer interactions.
- Ability to sustain a strong focus on detail and maintain a prolonged commitment to tasks.
- Proven ability to work well with others in fast-paced team environment.
- Ability to be flexible in the face of changing priorities.
- Demonstrated customer service skills, including ability to project friendly, outgoing presence
- Demonstrated ability to work with customers and coworkers from diverse cultural backgrounds.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift 50 lbs. occasionally, 30 lbs. frequently- Prolonged standing and walking on the sales floor
- Frequent bending, twisting, stooping, and crouching
- Ability to climb ladders
- Ability to perform continuous fine work with hands
- Ability to work nights & weekends
