Description

SYSTEMS ENGINEER (RDTE-22-0605-F):

Our client is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our growing team in Dahlgren,

VA. The System Engineer will provide Operation & Maintenance (O&M)

support to Windows (2016 or later) servers used at NSWC Dahlgren Division for

corporate solutions and Research, Development, Testing, and Evaluation

(RDT&E) organizational needs. This environment includes support for Windows

Active Directory. O&M support includes patch management, and information

assurance/security for the Research Development Testing and Evaluation

(RDT&E) network.

As the System Engineer, you will:

• Provide engineering support for initiatives including, but not limited to,

VMware, IBM Endpoint Manager, Splunk, and NetApp enterprise storage system.

• Responsible for the configuration and maintenance of domain backup solutions

using Symantec NetBackup.

• Administer and maintain endpoint solutions on supported RDT&E networks.

Develop, maintain and deploy automated Windows 2016/2019 Servers. Assist with

Windows server migration.

• Provide O&M support for various Department transition initiatives to

Corporate Services. Provide Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for designs

and implementation strategies of new hardware and software deployments.

• Address requirements for maintaining system security as defined by the

Assessment & Authorization (A&A) package.

• Work independently as well as in a support environment to meet deadlines

while simultaneously performing multiple tasks.

• Work with the Help Desk; but also with various Department Points of contacts

as needed to resolve customer problems.

lot of contractors in Dahlgren turn into permanent GS employees! This is why we

will see plenty of req volume here.

Although Dahlgren is on the Northeast tip of Virginia, it is a very close knit

community! A lot of the folks that have been supporting Dahlgren for years love

the area/tight knit culture. Being surrounded by the Potomac river and

Chesapeake Bay there is plenty of fishing, boating and other activities to do

as well during the warmer seasons. The cost of living is also lower than the

surrounding DC, Quantico, Stafford and Fredericksburg areas. The Locals rave

about the great places to eat and there has recently been a lot of shopping

centers developing.

Culture:

Our client has been in Dahlgren since 1999. They are Alaskan owned company.

This work is support of the lab that helps train the sailors on how to use the

systems. They are all about supporting the Navy because they are a research and

development facility. It is about 7000 people total on the base, mostly

students that come here. Their Culture is research and development for the

warfighters, so the common theme is “We are doing this for the warfighter! ”It

is the navy’s only land base over water firing range so they test fire guns

down the Potomac river. There is a department that does ammunitions

development, gun development and radar. The base has been there for 100 years.

All the guns that are on the navy ships throughout these years were developed and

tested right here in Dahlgren. They also do shock tests, explosive test and

railgun testing. Our client is driven by their shareholders in Alaska, they

have 40+ companies and 30 are government.
