These relate to networking services, communications, security, hardware support, enterprise application services, application design, development, and implementation. The department is made up of four divisions Telecommunication, Technical Services, Security and Enterprise Systems.
This specific position will be in the Enterprise Systems Division. The Workday Report Writer (Information Systems Programmer and Analyst IV) will be expected to assist in providing reporting support for our partners for Workday Financial systems. With the County transitioning to a new Workday Financial solution, this role involves day to day production support for departmental reporting, report writing, development and modification. The incumbent is expected to be a subject matter expert for Workday Financial application reporting.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience in Workday Financials with developing custom reports and analytics
- Can interface with Financial departmental stakeholders and understand their reporting and analytic needs and translate them into report requirements
- Can understand the business side of financials like financial fund accounting/GASB, or other related financial modules
- Can create report prototypes (in Sandbox) to present to stakeholders to clarify requirements and design reports and dashboards
- Is able to develop enhancements and modifications for existing or new reports required by departments using Workday tools and technologies
- Is competent in building Workday reports using Workday Report Writer (leverage calculated fields and understanding of Workday’s data architecture and business object model)
- Can problem solve and create and recommend methods and techniques of creating customized Workday reports
- Has excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing
- Is able to work independently and balance competing priorities and can assist in report migration
- Has technical experience with Workday processes, can create scripts for User Acceptance Testing; able to develop testing scripts to ensure reports are tested thoroughly; perform testing; oversee quality assurance and follow clear security procedures for compliance
- Has a basic understanding of accounting
- Creating and supporting customized reports for Workday Financials
- Application enhancements, development of reports, troubleshooting Workday applications report issues and providing solutions
- Participating in cross-functional teams/meetings established to advance business processes and quality outcomes through the effective and efficient use of the business software
- Developing systems, designing software solutions, and programming in areas related to Workday Financials and accounting standards

The eligible list established from this recruitment may remain in effect for six (6) months.
Education:
Possession of a bachelor degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in computer science or information processing or closely related field.
Experience:
Four (4) years of full-time or its equivalent experience performing software applications programming and/or systems analysis, at least one year of which must have included programming responsibility.
Substitution for Education:
Additional-qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of four (4) years.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience with Workday Financials System
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Relevant technical and accounting work experience or support department experience
- Ability to work well with all levels of management and support staff
- Possess an understanding of the Workday ecosystem and module touchpoints
- Able to exercise a high level of professionalism and confidentiality in dealing with sensitive data and business information
- Workday Professional Certification in Report Development
- Accountant from the private or public sector with California county experience
- Technical person that has learned accounting on the job and understands the basic concepts
