Job Title: X-ray Technician/ Medical Assistant

Reports To: Site Supervisor

Summary: This is position is responsible for operating and maintaining portable x-ray machines, prepare patients for x-ray procedures, assist physicians with x-ray image evaluation

Responsibilities:

1. Conducts pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient electronic medical record prior to appointment and confers with provider regarding radiology orders.

2. Obtains clear image results, which require the proper use of equipment, keeping patients calm and informed.

3. Positions radiographic machinery so it is at a proper distance, angle and height from the patient.

4. Prepares patients for examination and treatment by escorting them from the waiting area to the exam room and taking vitals, heights and weights.

5. Prepares, cleans, and maintains exam room and treatment rooms. Keeps exam rooms stocked with supplies.

6. Complies with safety regulations involving the use of radiation to protect themselves, patients and other staff members from over exposure to radiation.

7. Lessens radiology exposure by using a technique called patient- shielding.

8. Assists providers with patient education and self- management.

9. Maintain courteous relationships with outside caregivers, insurance carriers, labs, hospital, and pharmacies at all times.

10. Performs other related work as required.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and radiological processes.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions
  • Skilled in developing and maintain clinical quality assurance
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member with physicians and other staff
  • Ability to assist in a variety of common office procedures
  • Ability to maintain records and record test results.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures
  • Ability to use good reasoning and judgment and react calmly in emergency situations.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds

Education: Associates Degree- Radiologic Technology or Limited Scope X-Ray Operator Certification REQUIRED.

Experience: 1 year preferred.

Mental and Physical Requirements: Varied activities including standing, walking, reaching, bending and lifting. This position requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Must be able to use a variety of office equipment. May require working under stressful conditions.

Conditions: Normal office and exam room environment. The position requires the ability to work under pressure and with a diverse population, including staff, physicians, clients, patients, insurance companies, labs, hospitals and other members of the public on a regular basis. The position may cause exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinical environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
