Job Summary

The mammography tech is responsible for detecting breast tissue abnormalities by completing mammographic imaging studies; presenting them for diagnosis.

Duties

• Greets patients by confirming patient identification; reviewing imaging request; checking for special instructions; confirming anticipated service with patients.
• Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of imaging procedures; explaining equipment; answering questions.
• Conducts mammography study by positioning breasts; adjusting compression mechanisms; instructing patient to hold breath; retreating to lead protected area; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors; activating equipment to take image; releasing compression mechanisms; preparing for next positioning and view.
• Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques.
• Maintains production and quality of mammograms by following established standards and procedures; developing mammograms; observing mammogram results; determining necessary adjustments for optimum results; retaking mammograms as required; forwarding completed studies to radiologist for interpretation.
• Ensures operation of mammography equipment by completing preventive maintenance; instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories.
• Keeps mammography supplies and patient drapes ready by inventorying stock; placing order.

Duration:Ideally 13 weeks, Will review Candidates for 8-13 Weeks

Start dates:ASAP

Shift:07:00pm - 07:30am

Hours: Weekends PM (7p-7:30a) Fri ,Sat, & Sun

Types of X-Ray Techs in the Hospital:

• You will be assigned to either the OR, Portable X-Ray or a Specific Department based on experience
• They do about 70% of their x-rays bedside so they have a large portable team

Machines:

• Portal = Core Stream
• OR = GE
• Department = Phillips, Siemens

Must Haves:

• Must have trauma level 1 experience
• Must have Fluoroscopy experience
• Must have at least 2 years of radiography experience
• Experience working as a X-Ray Technician
• Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $70.00 - $75.00 per hour
