The Charleston Family YMCA is currently seeking a caring and hardworking individual to join our Youth Development team for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year. This position has the ability to transfer to Summer Day Camp!

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Be at least 18 years of age;
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent (will consider current High School students who meet the age requirement!)

REQUIREMENTS:

Upon hire, Pre-K Assistant Teachers must understand the general concepts of the organization and its mission, possess a valid driver’s license, maintain a current CPR/First Aid Certification, pass all required background checks including sex offender registry check, have a negative reaction to a TB test, supply a recent health assessment signed by a licensed physician and performed not more than ninety (90) days prior to the date hired, register and maintain a WV STARS credential and complete a minimum of 18 hours in approved staff development and training per calendar year, maintain a current Food Handlers card, complete Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention training annually, and complete all other requirements deemed necessary by the YMCA of Kanawha Valley, WV DHHR Department of Children and Families, etc.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the supervision of the Youth Development Director and Coordinator, the After School Staff Member shall:

• Be kind, patient, fun, and have a passion for working with children!
• Directly supervise and monitor school age children, Kindergarten through 6th Grade, during the program hours.
• Prepare and participate in lessons and activities such as arts and crafts, science experiments, sports and fitness, homework help, etc.
• Accurately maintain rosters, tracking sheets, meal sheets, and other paperwork.
• Supervise bus stop drop-offs and keep children safe.
• Drive YMCA shuttle for school pick-up, if needed. (21 years or older)
• Be available for full days out due to holidays like Spring Break, Thanksgiving Break, Christmas Break, Faculty Senate Days, Snow Days, or any other times school aged children may be out of school.
• Others duties as assigned
