Job title: Youth Advocate
Annual Compensation: $45,000
Positions supervised: Strategy Team
Purpose of this position:
To ensure appropriate client growth as determined by the supervisor’s expectations and the grant requirements
Primary responsibilities:
Leadership: Must lead a team including a Therapist, Mentor to implement the services for high-risk youth and minor victims of human trafficking in an effective manner. Required to schedule and implement strategy team meetings, ensure that grant and contract requirements are being met.
Counseling: Provide direct counseling and case management services to clients in individual, family or groups as needed. These services may take place in the client’s home, NDY, in schools, in institutions or other contexts as assigned by the supervisor.
Documentation: Prepare documentation, enter data and manage client individualized integrated service plan, client intake, activities and growth in an accurate, complete and timely manner according to grant expectations and agency standards. Responsible for the documentation and supervision of files, data collection.
Team communications: Ensure positive communications with supervisor and other staff members in such a way that client privacy is maintained, supervisors are kept fully informed of all activities that impact compliance with grant expectations, and other team members are supported.
Miscellaneous: Conducts home visits, conducts parent education classes and engages in other activities as assigned by supervisor
Community Relations/Outreach: Participates in various community organizations, meetings and events as requested. Develops and maintains positive relationships with community-based organizations, schools, DCFS, probation and any other community stakeholders. Represents NDY in the Los
Angeles community and conducts him/herself in a way that reflects positively on
NDY at all times.
Skills and Qualifications Needed:
Must possess extensive knowledge of trauma-informed care, sex and labor trafficking, be knowledgeable about youth programs in substance abuse, job training and placement programs, education, recreation, or related areas, have fluent oral and written skills in English, ability to speak Spanish highly desirable, have valid California driver’s license, have three years or more experience in community work, seek to be an effective member of a growing team, enjoy a periodically heavy workload, seek additional ways to be of service to the organization, able to work well with a variety of people, need to be organized and flexible, able to manage different projects simultaneously, have a sense of humor.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in related field required, a minimum of 7 years’ experience working with high-risk youth in crisis.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $21.63 per hour
