Asher's provides safety equipment to make sure that our product is of the highest quality. Appropriate footwear for the specific production area must be wore at all times.
The process of making candy can be challenging. Many factors go into creating our products. The work environment can be hot, cold, noisy, and/or very fast paced. You will regularly work on your feet for long periods of time, have repetitive motions with hands, elbows, shoulders, arms and legs, perform lifting of up to 35 pounds, and be asked to comprehend instructions (written and verbal) in English.
Position Summary:
The enrobing operator tempers chocolate and maintains chocolate enrobing operations to department quality and efficiency standards. The operator is also responsible for minor preventative maintenance of the equipment as well as participating in timely changeovers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operates and maintains enrobing machinery, equipment and tools in a safe and proficient manner according to manufacturing and Asher's Chocolates standards.
- Maintains a thorough working knowledge of enrobing operational procedures.
- Adjusts functional devices and control instruments on enrobers and tempering units for proper operation.
- Ensures metal detection units are functioning properly before and during each production run.
- Fills chocolate melters as needed.
- Transports finished skids of product to loading dock with pallet jack.
- Maintains accurate records of production reports, inspection reports, downtime logs, and other production documentation.
- Performs and assures all duties are carried out in a safe and conscientious manner.
- May be assigned other jobs by plant management as required.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Employee will perform job duties in a manufacturing environment and must be comfortable with daily exposure to noise, dust, and variation in temperature ranging from 60-100 degrees.
- Frequently required to bend, stoop, twist, and turn over an 8 hour shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Accountabilities:
- Responsible to Department Manager
- Assists department manager with production scheduling and associate assignments
- Assures lines are in good working order and report discrepancies to management and/ or maintenance
- Understands and follows GMPs
- Determine by regular inspection of enrobing machines the repair and maintenance necessary to prevent breakdowns
Qualifications:
The Ability to read, write, and comprehend English
Ability to operate a forklift
Ability to accurately read and interpret scales, rules, tapes and thermometers
Education:
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent preferred
Experience:
1-3 years of manufacturing experience
Knowledge and skills:
Ability to perform basic math calculations- add, subtract, multiply, divide
Travel Requirements:
Less than 5%
