We foster a collegial Pre-K 12 program that challenges each learner with rigorous academics, innovative strategies, and expectations for civic engagement.Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or universityTeacher Certification in English/Language ArtsThree years classroom teaching experiencePreferred ESL CertificationSkills: Ability to teach to all skill levelsAbility to facilitate instruction to multi-leveled students at the same timeAbility to tailor activities and lesson plans to individual learnersAbility to engage and motivate studentsAbility to work independently as well as collaborativelyAbility to collect data and maintain student recordsAbility to identify issues promptly and offer alternative solutionsEssential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functionsServe on Secondary Literacy Leadership Team and assist with development of school-wide literacy plan for small group and individualized push in and/or pull out instructional servicesAssist teachers and staff in identifying needs of individual studentsProvide direct and guided instruction to targeted students for a portion of each day in group or one-on-one sessions to meet the targeted needs of students who are reading below grade levelAccess and develop curriculum to provide individual, small group, and remedial instruction to meet the needs of individual and small groups of studentsFoster a nurturing and supportive learning environment that incorporates learning goals, self-confidence and student ownership of learningMonitor student progress and maintain complete and accurate records of student progress and evidence of growthActively engage with teachers to ensure seamless curriculum implementation that allows for students to transfer their learning from Tier 1 and Tier 2 MTSS literacy lessons back to their classroom workMaintain open and consistent communication about student progress, concerns and achievement with students, families, and teacher colleaguesComply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and board policyEnforce NYOS Charter School rules and policiesActively participate in a variety of meetings and professional development activities for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions and to improve student achievement.Use audiovisual aids, computers, and or other interactive technology to supplement and supportlessonsKeep up-do-date with current educational issuesDemonstrate strong work ethic, accept responsibility, and the ability to be self-motivatedExemplify through manner, words, and dress the high standards and expected behavior of the schoolPerform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.Compensation and Benefits: NYOS offers competitive salaries commensurate with experience, our teacher pay scale starts at $50,559 for 0 experience all the way up to $64,618 per year.
