Introduction
The Division of Public Health (DPH) within the Department of Health Services (DHS), works with our local and tribal public health partners, and community groups statewide, on a wide variety of programs and services that protect the health of Wisconsin residents.
DPH is recruiting for an Adult Immunization Coordinator within the within the Bureau of Communicable Diseases (BCD).
This position will be located in Madison, WI and will primarily work Monday-Friday with daytime hours. This position will be expected to work from the 1 W. Wilson St. office building a minimum of 2 days per week with the opportunity of 3 days remote work as well. This schedule may vary based on training or operational needs.

Position Summary
This position will coordinate and serve as a liaison with internal and external partners, and local and tribal health departments for adult immunization activities. This includes helping to identify and promote best practices and providing technical resources as well as helping implement updated changes to adult vaccination recommendations per the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices. This position will help ensure that health equity is a part of the adult vaccination program and assist with health communication, education and other related activities to raise awareness about adult vaccinations and increase uptake when possible.
Salary Information
The starting salary is between $31.00 to $37.50 per hour (approximately $64,480 to $78,000 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. This position is classified as Public Health Educator Advanced and the pay schedule and range is 11-03. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former employees is based upon the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction.
Job Details
All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
All state employees are required to report their COVID vaccination status, whether they are vaccinated or not, and must provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information within their first two weeks of employment.
For positions that do allow remote working flexibility, although residency in the State of WI is not required for permanent positions, it is not anticipated that working outside of WI or bordering cities will be allowed as positions may at times need to report to office locations in WI on short notice.
DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
Employees must have access to secure high-speed internet for remote work option. Mileage reimbursement to the employee’s headquarter location is not provided. Remote work flexibility will be discussed in more detail during the interview process.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:
- Experience developing and maintaining working relationships with internal and external partners
- Experience communicating (in writing and orally-e.g., presentations) about vaccines to a variety of different audiences (e.g., general public, health care providers, local and tribal health departments)
- Experience with program coordination or oversight (e.g., planning activities, managing projects, evaluating goals, etc.)
Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:
- Experience working on vaccine preventable diseases and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) adult vaccine recommendations.
- Experience incorporating health equity into public health policies and practices.
