Your Impact:
Full-time position at the Air Force Research Laboratory at Edwards AFB, CA, supporting the research and development of rocket engines using modeling and simulation. This involves (a) deploying CFD software for complex geometries, (b) analyzing unsteady, turbulent combustion phenomena in aerospace propulsion applications including but not limited to detonations, and (c) developing analysis tools to facilitate design optimization, such as reduced order models and machine learning. The successful applicant will work in a team of researchers active in the areas of computational combustion, propulsion system development and laboratory testing.

Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. citizen able to pass a background check and obtain a security clearance.
- Education: M.S. required, PhD desired in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or a similar degree.
- Strong background in computational fluid dynamics, compressible gas dynamics, and associated numerical methods.
- Experience applying CFD in a highly parallelized, high-performance computing Linux environment.
- Motivated to develop space exploration rocket technology
Desired Qualifications (a strong candidate need not have all of the skills/experience described below)
- Experience in reduced order models (ROMs), machine learning, design optimization, and/or data assimilation.
- Experience in modeling turbulent reacting flows, CFD algorithms and implementation, CAD and grid generation.
- Experience with Python, Fortran, ICEM, Paraview, and/or Tecplot.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative research environment, including with companion experimental efforts and external teams.
- Demonstrated ability to present methods, analysis, and results in technical symposia and refereed journals.
