Job description
- Arrive promptly and remain for the specified time.
- Supervise children constantly, never leaving them unattended.
- Assist children when necessary with hygiene needs.
- Assist children with assignments and activities.
- Assist the site supervisor with providing all daily services and reports.
- Coordinate planned activities as determined by the site supervisor.
- Provide assistance in distributing snacks, supplies, etc.
- Refer serious discipline problems to the site supervisor.
- Attend all staff meetings and training sessions related to an afterschool program.
- High School Diploma
- Possess good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and parents of students in the program
- Possess knowledge of the physical, mental, and emotional development of young children
- Certification in Red Cross first aid and CPR/AED
- Have a positive attitude toward working with young children
- Physically capable of lifting 40 lbs
- Sufficiently mobile to ensure the safety of students and to participate in activities
- Able to be active for an extended period of time
- Able to hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone
