This is a 220 day position, 35 days will be on an extended contract.
Carry out the aims and objectives of Paoli Community Schools
- Create an inviting, innovative and engaging learning environment that develops student critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Prepare students for strong academic achievement and passing of all required assessments
- Communicate regularly with parents
- Continually assess student progress toward mastery of standards and keep students and parents well informed of student progress by collecting and tracking data, providing daily feedback, weekly assessments, and occasional parent/teacher conferences
- Work with the Special Education teachers and administration to serve special needs students in the classroom
- Attend all required staff meetings and attend designated school functions outside of school hours
- Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom you are responsible
- Accept and incorporate feedback and coaching from administrative staff
- Perform necessary duties including but not limited to morning, lunch, dismissal, and after-school duties
- Perform other duties, as deemed appropriate, by the principal
- Dress professionally and uphold all school policies
- Plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Demonstrate knowledge of content and effective pedagogy in AG areas including: Animal Science, Plant & Soil Science, Agriculture Mechanics, Landscaping, Agribusiness Management, SAE, Introduction to Agriculture, Principles of Agriculture and the Advanced Life Science Courses
- Maintain a strong AG program at high level of success
- Serve as a motivated Co-FFA Advisor and maintain a high level of achievement. This would include Career Development Events, Supervised Agriculture Experience, officer training, community service events, fundraising, and working with an advisory board, as well as other chapter activities
- Work alongside the Veterinary Careers and Animal Science educator with guidance from the Advisory Board to maximize use of the state of the art animal handling facility and plant production facilities.
- Utilize a curriculum map, plan lessons, deliver assessments, etc
- Create and maintain a classroom environment of respect and rapport that is conducive to student learning.
- Participate in regular collaboration to reflect on teaching, plan instruction, monitor implementation, and respond to student performance data.
- Collaborate with other staff members to assess and assist students in resolving learning and behavior issues.
- Maintain a focus on a broad set of global Ag issues across agricultural curriculum, including improving food production methods.
- Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
- collaborate with department to provide consistent and sequenced educational experiences aligned to appropriate state standards
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
- Prepare classroom for class activities
- Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
- Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs
- Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
- Use relevant technology to support instruction
- Observe and evaluate student's performance and development
- Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments
- Provide appropriate feedback on work
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development
- Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations
- Prepare required reports on students and activities
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
- Establish positive relationships with students
- Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations
- Participate in department and school meetings, parent meetings
- Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs
- Keep up to date with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution
- Masters with 18 hrs of 500 level subject area course work preferred
- Meet the Indiana licensing requirements for the subject area
