POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Director of Student Activities is a position in the Student Life Office. As the Assistant Director of Student Activities, this position is primarily responsible for advising the Student Government Association, International Student Ambassadors, and assists in advising the Campus Activities Board. This position oversees international new student orientation and helps with Raven Orientation Camp (ROC). This position assists with all student activities, signature weekends and student leadership initiatives. This position also helps coordinate the national March for Life trip and the Kansas March for Life trip.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1) Serve as moderator/advisor for Student Government Association (SGA)

  • Form and develop Student Government Executive Board Members
  • Meet weekly (or as necessary) with each member of SGA Executive Board
  • Attend all Executive Board meetings and important Senate Meetings
  • Attend all major functions of SGA
  • Act as department liaison with SGA
  • Work to ensure safety & security at all major SGA functions
  • Oversee and sign all contracts with outside vendors
  • Assist Treasurer in managing SGA & all club budgets

2) Organize and supervise International Student Advisors

  • Assist International GA in planning and executing New International Student Orientation (iROC)
  • Select and train the iROC and ISA leaders
  • Act as direct report and supervisor of the GA for international student services- assist in planning and executing international events throughout the year

3) Assist Director of Student Activities with Campus Activities Board (CAB)

  • Help with overall planning, communicating and executing of campus activities
  • Responsible for taking point on at least 3 signature events (i.e. one fall, one winter, one spring)
  • Aid in the coordination and chaperoning of the remaining campus Signature Weekends.

4) Assist Director of Student Activities in planning and executing Raven Orientation Camp (ROC) and Spring ROC

  • Oversee the Logistics team for the entirety of ROC in fall and spring
  • Assist as needed beforehand and throughout the week in planning and chaperoning events

5) Coordinate the National March for Life and Kansas March for Life

  • Work with March for Life coordinator to plan travel, lodging and itinerary of the trips
  • Attend the March for Life and act as main contact for students in DC

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience

  • Applicants for this position should have a minimum of one year of higher education experience in student development or related field. Experience at a Catholic institution of higher education preferred.
