Job Description – Assistant Executive Director

IRONBULL is the premier outdoor adventure sports event provider in Central Wisconsin. Our races are epic in nature and cover the gamut from adventure races to ultra marathons to bike races throughout the year. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit and believe in giving back to our communities.

Our organization is growing and seeks a passionate individual that is a team player, independent thinker, has a take charge attitude, is customer focused, can juggle multiple balls, and has a background in off-road sports and/or experience in managing events.

Position Overview

• Be that go-to person on race day for event setup, vendors, sponsors, volunteers, and attendees.

• Coordinate with other community-based organizations to deliver an unparalleled experience for the race participant, race volunteers, sponsors, and event attendees.

• Create marketing and social media content and measure effectiveness and outcomes.

• Manage and coordinate volunteers for all events.

• Job may include working with other area outdoor recreation clubs and non-profits to help further their missions.

• Schedule is highly flexible and most work can be done remotely. Races/events take place in the greater Wausau area.

• Salary range is from $20 to $28/hour based on experience and from 10 to 40 hours per week based on the candidate’s skill set.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Race and Event Management

a. Coordinate and manage venue setup / teardown, food/beverages, and expos.

b. Work with preferred vendors and sponsors.

c. Obtain in-kind food and SWAG donations for events.

d. Design and coordinate merchandise for racers and onsite sales to promote IRONBULL brand.

e. Assist in event budgeting, permitting and insurance.

2. Engage and lead volunteer programs.

a. Spearhead the volunteer program to gain community support of the volunteer program and the organization.

b. Develop and implement effective strategies to recruit and retain the right volunteers with the right skills, including businesses.

c. Train and manage volunteers at events.

d. Implement protocols to ensure safety for athletes, volunteers, and spectators at all events.

3. Media content management

a. Design marketing ads / content including social media (primarily in Facebook ads/boosts and Instagram), print media, Google ads, billboards and measure effectiveness to improve future marketing content

b. Assist in website management, online registration, newsletters, email blasts, press releases, and guest blogs.

c. Promote races including online calendars and distributing flyers around the community.

4. Other Duties

a. Assist in budgeting, grant applications, business sponsorships, designing SWAG, and coordinating races with race directors.

b. Work with other area outdoor recreation clubs and non-profits to help further their missions.
