We are currently hiring an Assistant Agronomy Location Manager to join our team in Le Grand, IA (about 60 miles west of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and 60 miles northeast of Des Moines, Iowa). In this role, you will assist the Location Manager in leading and managing the location's facilities, equipment, and personnel.

This role is for you if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or experience in agriculture, farm cooperatives, farming, agronomy, or relatable field.
  • CDL, Applicator’s licenses, or willingness/ability to obtain both.
  • Ability to work longer hours during peak seasons.
  • An outstanding work ethic with ability to pay attention to the details
  • Ability to always project a positive attitude to customers and employees while exhibiting good customer relations skills.
  • Ability to obtain: CDL with Haz Mat Endorsement, Commercial Pesticide Applicator License 1A,1B,1C, USDA grain weighing and grading license. Pest Control Applicators License of grade 7-E would be beneficial.

What you will be doing:

  • Assists in overseeing plant personnel, assigned labor, and coordinate with on-site contractors so that projects and tasks are coordinated and performed properly and safely.
  • Assists with monitoring grain inventory, quality, and condition, as well as completing and submitting weekly inventory reports.
  • Maintain clean facilities and equipment so that they are always in safe operating condition.
  • Coordinate major repairs and location improvements with the Location Manager.
  • Maintain necessary seasonal product inventories, perform regular counts and reconciliations, timely input of required paperwork from purchase order to delivery and invoicing.
  • Assists with operation of agronomy application equipment as needed.
  • Assists with interviewing, hiring, and supervising the assigned employees at the assigned Location in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Assists with training, mentoring, and accountability for individuals on their team.
  • Communicate and coordinate effectively with all areas of the business especially the Location Manager, Sales & Marketing Manager and Grain Marketing & Origination Specialist regarding customer trends, competitive issues, technology changes, business growth opportunities, additions or deletions of product lines or facilities.
  • Assist locational Sales Agronomist with promoting and coordinating annual farmer/customer programs that include soil testing, field mapping, product recommendations, timely and accurate applications, field scouting, and record keeping.
  • Provide customers with cash grain bids and be able to explain basic grain contracts.
  • Promote Key Cooperative's products and services to customers.
  • Assist with supporting and enforcing policies and procedures resulting in a safe work and customer environment, safety first employee attitudes and safe driving policies.
  • Assists with maintaining all records required by OSHA or Key Cooperative's safety procedures.
  • Explain company policies and site operations to customers as needed.
  • Adhere to and support the credit policies and guidelines of Key Cooperative.
