MWH Constructors, providing industry-leading capital construction services, is currently seeking an Assistant Superintendent to support high-tech tool install/cleanroom construction project work in a fast-paced, highly technical industrial/manufacturing environment.

The Assistant Superintendent, in coordination with the managing Superintendent, is responsible for supporting multiple small to large-sized construction and maintenance projects from project kickoff throughout final punch-list closeout. The role will support various teams, including the scheduling and oversight of subcontractors. The Assistant Superintendent will be responsible for helping ensure timely project delivery and developing and maintaining productive and trusted relationships with the client and related stakeholders.

Essential Functions

  • Help oversee the project schedule and ensure the project team fully aware of the customer requirements.
  • Support and guide the project team; ensure they have the needed information procedures and tools to execute to meet the schedule safely and without interruption to ongoing operation.
  • Safely coordinate all activities to demo, move, and install large valuable chip manufacturing machinery in a critical mission operating plant.
  • Work with customer and contractors to coordinate all disciplines including electrical, I&C, mechanical wet and dry, and process piping.
  • Ensure the project team coordinates all work around dangerous substances using the any codes and approved processes published by all governing bodies including the client drawings and specifications.
  • Support the creation of project schedules for detailed integration and coordination of the project activities using schedule format approved by the client. The schedule must be updated weekly.
  • Review, approve and integrate two weeks look ahead schedules produced by the project team.
  • Validate and confirm the project teams’ field verification of client drawings.
  • Work with client systems to ensure coordination to complete the project, safely and without interruption to the facilities operation.
  • Help build construction schedules, for detailed integration and coordination of activities in a “micro-schedule” minute-by-minute basis or two weeks look ahead schedule as needed to ensure smooth execution of assigned activities.
  • Support field verification of client drawings – including clean room, cramped spaces, ladder access and under raised metal floor.

Qualifications

  • Two-year or four-year degree in engineering, construction management, or related field. An equivalent combination of experience, skills, and training and/or completion of trade school/apprenticeship program may be substituted.
  • 2-5 years’ experience supporting high tech tool install/cleanroom construction projects.
  • Prior experience managing subcontractors and/or craft.
  • Knowledge of construction disciplines (civil, mechanical, electrical, etc.) and knowledge of cost control, manpower planning, and scheduling. Experience with project closeout and punch list management.
  • Safety oriented.
  • Leadership – able to lead a diverse, multi-faceted project team to achieve project goals. Relationship builder including ability to interface with the client and other key stakeholders.
  • Motivator – able to drive the project.
  • Ability to develop and maintain outstanding relations with labor and subcontractors.
  • Problem-solver – ability to anticipate problems and institute corrective measures when necessary.
  • Quality driven – outstanding track record in completing projects on time and under budget.
  • Communication – Ability to effectively communicate with Stakeholders and project team.
  • Excellent record keeping skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to understand and support project schedule, experience with the critical path method (CPM) would be a plus.
  • Cost control, manpower planning and scheduling experience.
