The Associate Director, Marketing Strategy contributes to certain in-house early-stage development projects by conducting market research, developing and refining Target Product Profile, and incorporating marketing inputs into the clinical development plan. The incumbent contributes to business development opportunity assessments by conducting market research and analytics in order to assess value and strategies to enhance and maximize product potential.
Responsibilities:
- Develops meaningful Target Product Profile, and initial marketing strategy and incorporates them into the clinical development plan for certain early-stage development projects.
- Analyzes the treatment paradigm, unmet medical needs, competitive landscape, commercialization considerations, and revenue/profit potential of in-house development projects and in-licensing candidates by desk research and market research with third-party market research and business strategy firms.
- Analyzes target therapeutic area and potential target therapeutic area competitive landscape, potential commercialization considerations, risks, and key success factors vis-à-vis company’s strategy.
- Collects and presents information to senior leadership on events and trends in the U.S. and other ex-US. geographies pharmaceutical market and industry that will impact our strategies and business development in the U.S.
- Supports decision-making by providing information and analyses and interpretation, business insights, and recommendations.
- Creates and supports the creation of analyses and presentations for senior leadership.
- Interacts and coordinates with various functional departments as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS required; MBA preferred
- At least 10 years pharmaceutical/healthcare industry experience
- At least 8 years market analytics expertise in the pharmaceutical industry
- Previous pharmaceutical commercial assessment and product/market forecasting experience, especially for early-stage development pipeline
- Previous experience supporting pre-clinical to clinical business assessments, including internal development and in-/out-licensing opportunities
- Preferred experience: CNS and autoimmune/inflammation therapeutic area; global; pharma/healthcare consulting; segmentation, choice modeling, response modeling, and other quantitative methods
- Working understanding of the pharma industry, drugs/treatments, various disease states, and regulatory/commercialization requirements
- A strong scientific background with the ability to effectively work with clinical development, regulatory affairs, and other key groups
- Ability to synthesize complex information, and distill critical insights to inform commercial assessments
- A strong quantitative methodological background with a broad understanding and ability to interpret clinical studies and biostatistical methods
- Comprehensive knowledge of all pharmaceutical data sources, including secondary data audits, syndicated data, analyst sources, and other data sets pertaining healthcare and the pharma industry
- Highly proficient in MS Office; experienced in using Excel and other analytical tools to develop pharmaceutical product forecast models and quantitative analyses
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including ability to communicate complex scientific data to a variety of audiences
- Strong project management skills
- Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
- Credibility, accessibility, responsiveness, and attention to detail a must
- Required to travel domestically and internationally

The salary range for this position is $129,000 - $220,000. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary may be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state and depending on the role), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
This position is eligible to participate in our annual Short-Term Incentive (STI) program. Specific information about the plan including eligibility rules and target, will be furnished upon hire.
