Job Description:
Under close supervision, participates in engineering activities, learning Solar methods and procedures for design, research, development, test, and installation of Solar turbomachinery products. DIMENSIONS:
Problem Assignments:
Completes assignments under direction of more experienced engineers. Work is normally performed according to specific, detailed instructions, with latitude to act independently increasing with the individual's professional development.
Impact:
Failure to achieve results can be overcome without serious effect.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
Requires limited use/application of standard engineering principles including mechanical design, aero-thermodynamics, heat transfer, drafting/CADs, computer code development, and materials.
Contacts may be varied because of rotation through various engineering or operations departments.
Must demonstrate sound verbal and written communication skills.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Performs specific engineering assignments which could include (but are not limited to) any combination of the following major activities:
1.Preliminary design layouts and related documentation for review and the use by engineering and manufacturing employees
2.Performance analysis, utilizing established analytical methods and a variety of finite element codes to evaluate designs
3.Assist in the planning and set up of test cell functions
4.Materials research and analysis
5.Engine and/or gas compressor build support
6.High performance work team participation related to any design and analysis projects
7.Preparation of work instructions in support of operations
Graduate engineers can be assigned various rotations through the above activities, spending two to six months in departments within turbomachinery engineering.
