Education & Experience:

• At least 1 year of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field required. High School diploma or equivalent required.
• College course work in related field helpful.
• Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
• Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
• Must work well in stress, high-pressure situations.
• Must be able to show initiative in job performance, including anticipating what needs to be done before it becomes a necessity.
• Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
• Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
• Previous supervisory responsibility preferred.
• Alcohol Awareness Certification (must comply with State regulations)
• Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from disparate sources and consider, adjust, or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need.
• Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests.

Job Duties & Functions

• Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly service oriented manner.
• Effectively communicate with other Banquet Captains, employees, and event hosts.
• Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Aimbridge Hospitality standards as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
• Ensure and verify the correct and timely set up of all Banquet Event Order functions.
• Work closely with the audio visual representative to ensure the event space is set per the client’s request.
• Supervise Set Up team, documenting performance issues in conjunction with the department manager.
• Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the banquet function space pre-function space and storage areas to include the carpets walls walks windows and heating/air conditioning units etc.
• Maintain scheduled deep cleaning of banquet space.
• Maintain the banquet storeroom in a neat and organized manner stocked with any, and all appropriate supplies necessary for meetings or food service functions.
• Conduct and maintain regular inventories.
• Effectively plan for equipment, staffing, and uniform needs for Set up team within established guides for the next 30/60/90 days.
• Breakdown after the completion of functions, ensure that all equipment and supplies are stored properly, and ensure the cleanliness and appropriateness of the space.
• Inspect the set-up of meeting and banquet functions checking them against the Banquet Event Order.
• Comply with certification requirements as applicable to position to include Alcohol Awareness Food Handlers Safety etc.
