Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Bid-Management Writer/Editor to join the DCS Marketing team. This position offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement to include a combination of office and remote work. This position will be based in Portland, OR.
Job Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
Proposal /Business Development Writing:
+ Provides technical writing for the development of proposals or client presentations
+ Writes clear and concise proposal content for both technical and non-technical audiences (i.e., resumes, project descriptions, and other narratives as appropriate).
+ Coordinates input from multiple authors, translates complex technical information into simple, clear concepts for maximum scoring on proposals.
+ Interviews authors/subject matter experts as needed for additional information or clarification
+ Leads and/or supports proposal strategies, including implementation of win themes, graphics, and various written/visual creative communication concepts.
+ Initiates and supports new content related to clients/markets or special projects, as requested by, coordinating with client account managers (CAMs), and other business lines, as necessary.
+ Organizes material and writes descriptive copy according to established standards for order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
+ Contributes to content libraries and best practices for internal training of others
Editing and Quality
+ Prepares and participates in content reviews at all stages in the proposal development lifecycle and is responsible for the editorial quality for projects/content assigned.
+ Serves as lead for editing to ensure document is logically organized and corrects any inconsistencies in logic
+ Reviews documents for technical accuracy in accordance with applicable regulations.
+ Copy edits documents, ensures tone and voice of author(s) is consistent throughout document.
+ Proofreads documents for grammar and punctuation, checks tables and figures accuracy and consistency
+ Ensures all work products adhere to company brand and quality standards
+ Develops project or document-specific style guides and editorial standards
+ Makes authoritative editorial and process decisions and recommendations
+ Provides input into the development and maintenance editorial best practices
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
+ BA/BS in English, Communications or a related field + 6 years of Technical Report Writing and Editing experience or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
+ Previous Marketing, Communications or Writing experience working within the A/E/C industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Previous experience with the full A/E proposal lifecycle from pre- to post-RFP phase
+ Advanced proficiency in MS Word; proficient in MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, and Adobe Acrobat (experience with InDesign, Photoshop, MS Teams, and SharePoint is a plus)
+ Substantive editing of complex, multi-author, or high-profile documents.
+ Superior time management skills, detail-oriented, and adept at prioritizing among multiple tasks with competing deadlines
+ Experience interviewing authors/SMEs for new content creation or clarifications
+ Excellent communication (written/verbal) uses diplomacy with peers and internal clients
+ Experience building and maintaining strong internal relationships.
+ Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy, completeness, and thoroughness.
+ Ability to work well independently and on a team
+ Ability to support meet deadlines and operate within flexible work schedule across teams
+ Ability to exercise discretion with confidential/ sensitive issues.
