We are the fastest growing bike shop on the island of Maui, and offer full service repairs, a daily downhill tour, retail from some of the best bike clothing and gear brands in the industry, and a great environment for customers to enjoy spending time with the sport they love. We have two locations on Maui, one of which we just opened in early 2022 and are eager to staff with the right people! We are a small team looking for bike mechanics and a service department leader who is just as passionate as us when it comes to growing our service department and providing our community with an excellent experience, every time.

At Maui Sunriders, we’re avid cyclists, surfers, skiers & snowboarders who have a passion for adventuring in the outdoors. Collectively, our team has decades of experience in domestic and international tour guiding, business management, bicycle service & rentals, and outdoor sport of all types. Many of us hold upper level certifications, and we strive to beat industry standards when it comes to safety and service.

We are proud to be one of the longest running downhill bike tour companies on Maui, with over 20+ years of facilitating a bicycle experience unlike any other. We have filled a need on the island for a self-paced 24 mile bike tour that starts at 6,500’ up Haleakala volcano and finishes down at our bike shop in Paia. Upon finishing the ride, our guests frequently remark that their experience with us was the highlight of their time on Maui, and they were impressed with the quality of service we were able to provide.

In the past couple of years, our close-knit and dedicated team has worked hard to expand Maui Sunriders Bike Co to what it is today. In addition to our daily downhill tour, we are also a full retail, rental and service bike shop with locations in Paia & Kihei. Our bike rental fleet includes high end full-suspension mountain bikes, road bikes, ebikes & beach cruisers. We are motivated by a common interest to build a strong cycling community here on Maui!

Store Manager Position

As a Store Manager at Maui Sunriders Bike Co, you are empowered to create and lead a dynamic, successful, and passionate retail bike shop team. You'll set the standard for how your shop is remembered by your customers, and you'll set an example for other employees by creating an amazing experience for everyone who walks through your doors.

As Store Manager, you are a key member of the operational team that reports directly to the Owners-General Manager. As a leader on the team, your contributions are critical to the success of the entire enterprise. You have the opportunity to design and mold this progressive, forward-moving enterprise in an ever-changing retail landscape.

The ideal Store Manager will have a passion and love for bicycles and riding them as often as possible. You are a leader and motivator who thrives off of achieving goals and is enthusiastic about mentoring others to reach their full potential. You are excited for the opportunity to be the person who builds something great while fostering a team of exceptional coworkers that you are proud to call teammates. On a functional level, you will bring with you the following skills:

• Minimum 3+ years of managing a successful business
• Minimum 3+ years working in a sales-focused environment
• Proven ability to meet business goals
• Demonstrated dynamic leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop future leaders
• Knowledge and experience cultivating and maintaining an effective inventory
• Proficiency in administering a point of sale system (we use Lightspeed) as well as Microsoft Excel
• Proficiency in interpreting and using financial metrics to drive performance
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated experience in visual merchandising

Responsibilities

The Store Manager provides direction and leadership to a diverse group of sales, service, and operations staff. Through recruitment, education and motivation, you will be expected to build and maintain an energetic, passionate staff that understands what it means to win in today’s retail environment and values providing a fantastic customer experience.

With an extensive list of evaluation tools at your disposal, you will evolve the direction of your store based on insight and data extracted, as well as your years of experience in a business-focused retail environment. Your ultimate goal is to produce a successful, profitable store that can continue to thrive and add value to our community. You must be able to enthusiastically achieve the following:

• Maximize store sales and achieve sales goals
• Measure and monitor progress and results daily
• Ensure all staff have the knowledge, skills, and motivation to reach goals
• Ensure world-class customer service by maintaining Maui Sunriders Bike Co brand service standards
• Work with Management team on the creation of annual store business plan and calendar
• Provide a safe and welcoming environment for customers and staff at all times
• Hiring new employees, continual training of staff, and scheduling employee shifts.
