Join our team – and YOU can make a difference! As a Bilingual Career Planner at the American Jobs Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa. You will serve as a main point of contact, working with our customers and claimants who are seeking assistance searching for their next career! Some of the areas include application assistance, resume development, interview preparation as well as other guidance to help them get off to a great new start!Key Responsibilities:
Greet customers immediately upon entry into the American Jobs Center with a warm in a friendly, and professional manner. Career Planners provide courtesy, respect, and politeness during all interactions with customers, both internal and external. While meeting with customers, you will as appropriate questions to determine services they are seeking and/or needing. Interacts effectively and builds respectful relationships among coworkers and partners.
- Coach, motivate and encourage job seekers on all aspects of the job search.
- Assist customers to build their personal and job skills for the primary goal of successful employment.
- Provide customers assistance with preparing and tailoring resumes and cover letters. Facilitate mock interviews for customers, identifying ways to improve their interview responses. Process paperwork for partner and team programs and services. Refer, direct, and result customers to appropriate workshops and employment events.
- Facilitate workshops or one-on-one appointments in-person or through virtual conferencing platform for customers/participants of system programs and services, update workshops and presentations as new information is available.
- Assist customers by answering questions about employment and training opportunities. Refer our customers to our business partners regarding specific open positions in the IowaWORKS System.
- Provide information and guidance to employers on how to use the IowaWORKS system. Identify sources for potential new employer customers for the American Job Center. Participate in development and implementation of customized recruitment strategies and events.
- Utilize case management system for tracking and maintaining employer information. Critique and enter job orders and referrals into the IowaWORKS system. Network with businesses to determine hiring practices and employer needs.
- Fluency in the Spanish language
- Conduct assessments to determine customer qualifications for special services and job referrals.
- Reading, interpreting, and applying a variety of technical materials, rules, and regulations
- Perform as an effective member of a functional team.
- Utilize computers to acquire, organize, analyze, communicate, and present information.
- Performs effectively under stress associated with normal or emergency, critical, unusual, or sustained heavy workloads.
- Ability to interact with other agency staff; employers; state, federal, county, or municipal officials, and the general public to obtain and provide information Works and communicates with all clients and customers providing quality professional service.
- Displays a high level of initiative, effort, attention to detail and commitment by completing assignments efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent writing skills, organizational skills, and time management with ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Must have demonstrated expertise in working with computers, specific programs and other services provided at the Workforce Center.
- Demonstrates high standards of ethical conduct.
863 Spanish Language (Customer Service)
The ability to understand, speak, read, and write Spanish to provide service to Spanish speaking customers.
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university;
