Position Purpose:
The primary role of the Billing Operations Specialist is to maintain error queues related to billing to meet service level metrics and ensure proper billing. You will work closely with our patients, the internal team and our external payers to resolve billing issues and maintain accurate payments.
- Maintain low volume in assigned error queues within the financial management system to aid in meeting service level metrics and ensure proper billing
- Collaborate with internal team and external client to research and resolve any disputes or discrepancies in billed amounts and/or payment transactions
- Prepare timely and accurate billing for external clients
- Document all collections efforts and transaction records
- Reconcile member accounts as needed
- Prepare bad debt write-off as needed
- Research and process refunds as needed
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with transaction processing, data reconciliation, membership records, billing/collections, customer service, or business administrative experience.
- Basic Microsoft Excel knowledge.
- Strong communication skills, including written, verbal and active listening.
- Great customer service skills, including interpersonal conversation, patience and empathy.
- Good problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Knowledge of industry best practices.
- Basic math skills.
- Organization, time management and prioritization abilities.
- Ability to be discreet and maintain the confidentiality of patient information.
- Effective computer skills to input data into account management software in a timely and efficient manner.
- Understanding of industry-specific policies, such as HIPAA regulations for health care.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience or knowledge within the healthcare industry, particularly a mail order or specialty pharmacy
- Experience with CPR+
