Minimum Qualifications

Education - Completion of a program/training in Bio-Medical equipment Technology/Electronic Technology from an accredited technical or engineering school. Minimum of an Associate Degree is required.

Experience - One (1) year relevant experience in Bio-Medical equipment repair.

License and Certifications - Professional licenses or certifications relevant to this position are not required but will benefit an applicant. Valid driver’s license is required.)

Knowledge and Skills -

  • Knowledge in medical equipment repairs and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of trade practices in electronic equipment.
  • Knowledge and skills in the preventive maintenance of equipment generally found in hospitals and clinics.
  • Knowledge of codes and standard applicable to medical equipment set forth by Federal, State, local and accrediting agencies.
  • Knowledge and ability to manage the technical and business aspects of the Bio-Medical program such as budgets, contract negotiations, equipment, etc.
  • Ability to utilize manufacturer’s service manuals, schematic drawings and instrumentation to maintain and repair medical equipment.
  • Ability to use pertinent tools, equipment and resources to repair and maintain medical equipment.
  • Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with Muscogee Creek Nation Health System staff, Tribal and Non-Tribal contractors, governmental agencies, vendors as well as the public, both orally and in writing

Job Summary

The purpose of this position is to establish and maintain a Bio-Medical equipment program that would provide supervision and direction of all medical equipment activities in the facilities of the Muscogee Creek Nation Health System. Incumbent would be responsible for maintaining a current inventory of all medical equipment and providing ongoing maintenance, repair, documentation and safety inspections at sites. Other duties would be assigned as needed.

Work Environment:

Work is performed inside and outside the health facilities. Potential risk of exposure to all kinds of weather; dirty, dusty and greasy conditions; bad smelling fumes and the possibility of scrapes, burns, infections and broken bones does exist in the performance of position duties. Driving a GSA vehicle is required.

Physical Demands:

Physical demands of the position require continuous standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working within small or cramped quarters. Frequently carries, lifts pulls or pushes parts and equipment in the performance of duties. Incumbent must be able to lift and least fifty (50) pounds or more. Work is sometimes performed on ladders and/or scaffolds which requires incumbent to work overhead or in a stretched, cramped or awkward positions. Incumbent shall be aware of normal risks and demands associated with the position.

Essential Functions:

Satisfactory job performance will be determined by successful execution of the following:

  • Install, maintain and repair medical equipment in the health facilities following manufactures suggestions, service manuals, schematic drawings, using various tools, measuring instruments and test equipment.
  • Detect and troubleshoot variations and malfunctions in medical equipment and diagnose and repair as appropriate.
  • Dismantle defective equipment and install new or replacement parts according to the manufactures instructions.
  • Maintain an equipment file that includes repair history, preventive maintenance reports, electrical safety data and equipment specs.
  • Develop and maintain policy and procedures to outline the process of the Bio-Medical equipment maintenance, repair, documentation, replacement and inventory.
  • Report monthly to the Facilities Management Officer the status of the medical equipment at each location. Report immediately any failure of medical equipment that directly affects patient care.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
