Job description
Kaye Personnel is currently seeking a Boiler Technician (Blue Seal Certification) to join the team at a leading Food & Beverage manufacturer located in Pennsauken, NJ.
Pay Rate: starting at $29.46 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Working Hours: 6:00pm – 6:00am (2-2-3 rotation)
Position Summary:
- Responsible to maintain the function and reliability of all building utilities including HVAC, steam, condensate, compressed air, process water, potable water, process sewer, sanitary sewer, CIP system, and wastewater treatment systems. In addition, maintain building infrastructure including roofs, walls, and floors along with grounds maintenance.
- Work is performed under general supervision and performance evaluation is based upon completion of assignments and results obtained.
Essential Job Duties & Functions:
- Works with Facilities Supervisor on Projects throughout the plant.
- Ability to perform light pipefitting and plumbing repairs and small projects.
- Open and close high pressure steam boilers for annual inspection.
- Inspects facilities (e.g., houses, trailer, buildings, etc.); equipment (e.g., fire safety, generators, compressors, etc.); systems (e.g., electrical, plumbing, power sources, etc.); and work of vendors to determine condition of facilities, safe operation of equipment.
- May be required to respond to 24-hour emergency calls for assigned work area to perform emergency building or equipment repairs during off-duty hours.
- Cross-train with co-workers to perform preventive maintenance and repair work on equipment and produce monthly reports using technical manuals.
- Remains current on job specific expertise through various sources (e.g., trade publications and shows, vendor communication, etc.) to keep abreast of the latest technological developments and products to improve equipment reliability.
- Oversee wastewater operations and maintenance. Report food safety & quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required with a minimum three (3) years’ experience as a Stationary Boiler Engineer, Third Class License preferred.
- Positions in NJ require 3 years’ experience AND a Blue Seal Certificate.
- Familiar with the following equipment/areas:
- Boiler Pad and Chemical Areas.
- Air Compressors and Dryers.
- High Pressure Pumping Station.
- Tank Farm.
- RO supply water.
- Hot Water and Steam Systems throughout the plant, all heat exchangers.
- Retort Chemical Systems.
- Working knowledge of electrical principles and theories.
- General knowledge of steam distribution, piping, and plumbing systems.
Working Conditions:
- Constant exposure to extreme loud noises.
- Constant sitting and moving in and out of tractor trailer.
- Constant exposure to extreme hot/cold environment (weather and non-weather related.
- Occasional work in high places and near moving mechanical parts.
- Frequent lifting/carrying <50 pounds, reaching and use of fingers.
- Frequent reaching/pulling/bending/climbing stairs/stooping/kneeling/bending.
- Occasionally lifting >50 pounds.
- Potential exposure to caustic chemicals.
