Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The Division of Student Affairs empowers students to be more successful by supporting and challenging students’ exploration and development of their unique potential in a community of mutual respect, thus creating and contributing to opportunities for learning beyond and within the classroom. Student Affairs:
- Encourages an inclusive environment of awareness and appreciation of diversity.

Position Summary
The Business Officer is the overall manager of the financial affairs and human resource functions for the Student Affairs Division. He/she provides oversight, support, and training as needed in the financial and human resources areas by the departments that report to Student Affairs, including the Office of Accessibility Resources and Services, Campus Activities and Programs, Recreation and Wellness, Career Services Center, Dean of Students Office/Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities, Elliott University Center, Housing and Residence Life, Leadership and Service Learning, intercultural Engagement, Student Health Services/ Counseling Center, Veterans Resources Center, and the Division Office which has assessment, technology, and marketing functions as well. He/she manages the business operations and daily office functions of the support staff and provides administrative support to the VCSA including communication, problem-solving, policy interpretation, planning, and compliance activities. He/she is a member of the Division Leadership Team and represents the Division on committees and campus meetings as requested by the VCSA, All of these activities are very complex, demanding, and require great attention to detail.
Minimum Qualifications
BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION, OR RELATED BUSINESS AREA; OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE. ALL DEGREES MUST BE RECEIVED FROM APPROPRIATELY ACCREDITED INSTITUTIONS.
