Babcock & Wilcox (B&W) is seeking a qualified individual for a Corporate Development Analyst position. The position will report to the Vice President, Corporate Development, who as a member of B&W's Corporate Development team is responsible for leading B&W's corporate strategy development and inorganic growth initiatives, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships, and strategic planning. The individual will be a core member of the Corporate Development team and provide support on various corporate development projects consistent with B&W's overall business plan and direction, in coordination with B&W's operational units, finance organization and senior management.
The individual will support the Company's acquisition target evaluation, due diligence and transaction processes, with particular emphasis on financial analysis and modeling. In addition, this individual will support a range of activities that aid in the development of B&W's long range corporate strategy including industry research, market analysis and implementation strategy development.
- Analyzes market trends and competitors to support future organic and inorganic direction of the company
- Performs long range market and financial analysis to support the overall B&W corporate strategy
- Evaluates potential acquisitions, divestitures, investments, and partnerships, including detailed financial analysis, financial modeling, and valuation
- Supports the development of business cases to support potential acquisitions, in conjunction with relevant business leads
- Interacts with internal experts to assess strategic, business, legal, regulatory, tax and other implications of potential acquisitions
- Prepares senior management and board-level communications and analysis for the evaluation of potential acquisitions, divestitures, investments, and partnerships
- Assists in researching, identifying, and tracking potential acquisition targets and developing a pipeline
- Interacts with/plays a visible role in coordinating the work of multiple cross-functional project teams
- These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- 2+ years of experience in Public Company Corporate Development, Venture Capital, Investment Banking, Management Consulting, Major Accounting Firm, or substantially equivalent experience required
- Experience working in a transactional environment required
- MBA or CPA strongly preferred
- Strong analytical, financial, and project management capabilities
- Fluency in business valuation and financial modeling (i.e., comparable company, precedent transactions, IRR, ROIC, discounted cash flow, leveraged buyout analyses, etc.)
- Ability to develop and manage financial models with minimal supervision
- Team player with demonstrated ability to collaborate
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to manage competing projects and priorities in a dynamic environment
