Position summary:

The Biotech Business Development Lead is a highly visible role with exposure to divisional commercial leaders, our corporate leadership team and customer C-Suite executives. The role is passionate about the Biotech segment, developing relationships specifically within the new and emerging customer base. You will forge relationships with the leadership of emerging biotech customers and conveying our biotech value prop to identify opportunities for growth and collaboration. You will be focused on improving the overall customer experience, understanding the customers unique and evolving needs and communicating them back to leadership. You will own partnership account plan strategy development and execution, working closely with a broad network of internal partners to define and deliver innovative solutions that demonstrate our total value proposition to convey substantial and sustained impact for both our customers and Thermo Fisher Scientific. You will be responsible for leading high-performance Account Management Teams (AMTs) in an intercultural, diverse, virtual, matrix environment, and will often have to ensure alignment on overall partnership strategy in the face of competing interests and priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

Accelerate growth and increase lifetime value of our relationships with emerging biotechs and meet or exceed Goal Tree metrics for success

Proactively engage new customers by maximising existing relationships where possible, in order to develop influential relationships and identify new partnership opportunities

Act as primary point of contact to streamline customer experience, while working to engage divisional colleagues.

Translate deep customer insights into meaningful partnership opportunities that deliver value to our customers and Thermo Fisher.

Lead the AMTs in the creation of overall territory and account strategy, demonstrating our breadth and depth of capabilities to create high-impact, innovative, science- and customer-centric solutions

Build credible, influential relationships with a wide network of internal and external partners, and help facilitate customer access for our divisional colleagues

Collaborate with customers and industry organizations to develop a deep understanding of focus technology areas and organizational imperatives, as well as the competitive landscape to advise on the evolution of our Biotech customer value proposition.

Act as the primary interface between our strategic partners and Thermo Fisher, sourcing new needs/opportunities, and supporting resolution of critical issues

Formulate and recommend pricing strategies and negotiate sophisticated deal structures

Create a successful, inclusive, and trustworthy work environment that foster our 4i values

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

B.Sc. degree in a scientific field (biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, etc), preferably with experience working within a life science laboratory; MBA or professional business education is highly desirable

Minimum of 5 years in a senior level account management or business development position within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, contract research or laboratory supply sectors

Experience in a matrix environment and driving alignment on a common purpose despite occasionally competing/conflicting interests

Strong business and financial skill, including understanding of the P&L drivers, dynamics, and trade-offs

Deep and sincere passion for creating an inclusive, supportive, and collaborative team environment

Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams and like programs helpful.

Positive demeanor and resiliency to changing business environments

High level of motivation and ability / willingness to spend significant time on site at customer locations

Travel 0-25%

The salary range estimated for this position is $160,000 - $190,000. This position will also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. Actual compensation will be confirmed in writing at the time of offer.
