The Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board’s Fresno Office is recruiting for a Career Executive Assignment/Assistant Executive Officer (AEO). The Executive Officer is seeking an individual with strong leadership skills and work ethic, who is willing to commit to the water quality demands of a region that covers a wide range of water quality programs and stakeholder interests, including those affecting disadvantaged communities and addressing racial equity issues. The position is located at 1685 "E" Street in Fresno, CA 93706.

The Executive Officer and the AEOs from the Fresno, Redding, and Rancho Cordova Offices function as the executive management team for the Board and develop strategic priorities for the Board in collaboration with the Board itself. The position requires extensive stakeholder and inter- and intragovernmental engagement and coordination. The AEO is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Board’s Fresno Office, which includes the supervision of three technical sections and one administrative unit. The AEO also specifically acts as Executive Sponsor for 3 to 6 of the Board’s 18 water quality programs, which involves consultation on the development of programmatic annual workplans guiding staff work across all three offices and is the lead enforcement officer for enforcement actions originating from the Board’s Fresno Office. The AEO acts as representative of the Board on committees, workgroups, and in various forums, at public meetings of elected and appointed boards and commission from the various counties, cities, special districts, and other agencies, and in interviews with news media.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
