POSITION SUMMARY: This is a entry level position within our Transportation Department. The Driver Trainee will join our dedicated and experienced team and commit to a 3 to 9 month training program (based on previous experience driving commercial Trucks) to become a professional Tractor Trailer Driver with us. While doing so, the Driver Trainee will assist with route delivery, loading and unloading of products on the truck, delivering and stacking merchandise on customer premises while exercising excellent customer service and extreme safety precautions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Receive direction and route assignments from Driver/transportation Manager.
• Work with other Driver on organizing the deliveries
• Count the load prior to leaving the facility
• Assist with ticket orders, double check orders before product is brought to the customer
• Know the location that has been established for drop stops in order to pick up the boxes
• Communicate with customers in a professional manner and document invoice changes promptly and neatly
• Prepare delivery by putting the empty boxes in the truck and getting the next order ready.
• Push all boxes to the back door and secure with load bars in front.
• Organize the truck with empty trays / crates/ boxes for safe offloading
• Assist driver with driving maneuvers that require direction from outside the truck such as backing up
• Become knowledgeable with DOT regulations, and company policy
• Operate a 48 ft Refrigerated Tractor Trailer with the supervision of an experienced company driver throughout NYC, NJ and CT based on assigned route
