Cancer Specialists of North Florida is recruiting for an experienced Charge Auditor for our busy Radiation Department. The Charge Auditor position is responsible to input charges through the careful review of charges associated with services performed by providers. Must create claims accurately and reviewing coding of the claims prior to claim submission. The position supports the company's overall Operations by efficiently and effectively performing duties required for Revenue Cycle process and delivering results. This position does all radiation coding & charge entry in EMR. In addition to these tasks, this position also monitors and completes general reports as needed and communicates with different locations. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Charge entry in Mosaiq, Transact, and Centricity:
  • Mosaiq: review clinical documentation, tag charges captured, export processed charges in a HL7 file to Transact.
  • Transact: review processed charges, add needed billing items, export charges to Centricity for approval.
  • Centricity: attach authorizations & referrals as required by payor, split tickets, update attending physicians when necessary.
  • Pull Schedule from proper sources, create folders and maintain organization files.
  • Reviews schedule to ensure all charges are entered in EMR.
  • Reconcile schedule to EMR charges, makes necessary corrections and report discrepancies to Director, Supervisor, Manager, or Site and EMR team as appropriate.
  • Review clinical documentation to support coding/billing.
  • Check to make sure diagnosis is compatible if not email physician.
  • Expert ability to add specific data such as modifiers, payer specific information including authorizations criteria, CPT, and ICD-10 codes and date of injury (DOI).
  • Knowledgeable to append modifiers based on payer specifics, insurances, and authorization requirements and referring physician's unique attributes.
  • Reference credentialing worksheet to make sure medical providers are approved to bill.
  • Understand and interpret the Correct Coding Initiative (CCI) and payer guidelines.
  • Place charges on hold when necessary.
  • Ensures physician's charges are received in a timely manner, 48 hours of date of service (DOS).
  • Makes changes to charge entry denials as needed.
  • Answer calls from Physics and Dosimetry.
  • Run unexported report and communicate outstanding issues to the sites weekly.
  • Perform daily audit of unbilled charges spreadsheet/and or e-mail for missing information that is sent weekly to the physicians.
  • Create and maintain the weekly radiation stats worksheet.
  • Achieve goals set forth by supervisor regarding error-free work, transactions, processes, and compliance requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining manuals and other required information to perform duties.
  • Follow policies and procedures to effectively report charges.
  • Attends seminars as needed.
  • Stay current with ROCC certification (Radiation Oncology Certified Coder).
  • Special projects as assigned.
  • All other duties as assigned by manager.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Associates Degree preferred
  • CPC -A Ability to perform routine mathematical calculations Understanding of CPT, ICD-10 codes, and medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems.
  • Minimum of 1 - 2 years of experience in healthcare billing and abstract coding.
  • Minimum 1 - 2 years radiation and/or oncology experience with charge entry/audit preferred or authorizations experience in Radiation.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • ROCC preferred/required
