PRIMARY JOB PURPOSE:
We are looking for a qualified Child Care Center Director to plan, organize, direct, control, and ensure the highest level of customer service for families, staff, and visitors in all SoulShine initiatives. The Site Manager is responsible for the day-to-day and overall onsite operations of the facility, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines while supporting our mission.
ESSENTIAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Professional, customer-service oriented, compliant, dedicated, strategic, organized, personable, objective, authoritative, accountable, and able to delegate.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Bachelor's degree in Education or Early Childhood Education, preferred
- 40 hours director's training
- First Aid/CPR Certified
- A satisfactory Comprehensive background check through Decal/KOALA
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
TEACHER & TEAM SUPPORT:
- Integral to talent acquisition within subordinate and contractor positions, including requesting new hires, overseeing recruitment, interviewing, screening, approving, and hiring.
- Oversees and finalizes working interview for applicants using the Working Interview: Teacher Evaluation Form.
- Mentor, coach, and provide guidance to new hires and staff on the job.
- Conducts verbal and written performance evaluations of all reports using the 90-day SoulShine Employee Evaluation Form.
- Oversees the performance evaluation process as led by the Associate Director and/or Floor Manager.
- Conducts disciplinary action and terminations as required with HR Director.
- Visit each classroom at least twice daily, in order to:
- Monitor teacher performance, monitor curriculum delivery, including delivery of lesson plants, inclusion or permaculture ideals, and monitor teacher interactions with children, including levels of engagement and presence.
- Oversee curriculum changes, uptake by teachers, and delivery to students by the curriculum team.
- Ensure curriculum boards are up to date.
- Makes sure classroom binders are used properly.
- Facilitates and conducts weekly management meetings and monthly staff meetings.
FAMILY INTERACTIONS:
- Greets families upon arrival daily.
- Conducts parent conferences.
- Communicate with parents and staff via email on any issues, concerns, questions, and/or feedback.
- Work in conjunction with the Floor Manager to inform parents whenever their child is ill or has been exposed to a communicable disease (illness letters).
- Create and submit incident reports (Incident reports are logged through BrightWheel.
SCHOOL OPERATIONS:
- Manage the telephones daily
- Ensures that school is fully staffed for operations every open day
- Manage teacher callouts
- Find coverage and request teacher substitutes as needed
- Covers and communicates all personal and management team absences.
- Responsible for Opening procedures and operations daily (Procedure-Classroom Opening, Task list -Classroom Opening)
- Assist setting up classrooms as needed
- Redirect dropped off student files as appropriate
- Ensure all infant classrooms have puree for the day
- Manage ratios until full staff arrives according to the mandated requirements stated in Staff: Child Ratios and Supervision in the BFTS Rules and Regulations
- Keep fully apprised of all activities in the school
- Remain visible and accessible to Team Members and parents
- Approve timecards for team members including overtime
- Oversee all operations of assigned SoulShine facility and programs according to SoulShine and state licensing guidelines
- Oversee management of the school in conformance with all state and local regulations
- Ensure building security: Change door and alarm codes, keypads on, ensure locked doors, check cameras, and communicate security repair needs (create new security checklist) for safe measures
- Check in students as needed on BrightWheel
- Evacuate per emergency protocols (Use Emergency Plan of Action)
- Secure all medicines and medicine cabinets
- Handle child injuries and incidents and inform parents
ADMINISTRATION:
- Create and fill in beginning daily notes
- Ensure curriculum boards are up to date
- Maintain classroom binders
- Ensure posting of regulatory notices
- Complete and submit substitute teachers' paperwork
- Responsible for contractor contact and scheduling as needed for maintenance and repairs
- Monitors, manages, and limits employee overtime
- Gives input for salary increases, overtime pay and payroll deductions
- Approves all Time Off and Paid Leave Time
- Maintain immunization records
- Use the placement docs to reference future graduations and new students by date, and prepare accordingly
- Gives input into event planning (field trips, family workdays, holiday events, etc.)
- Gives input into Staff event planning (team building events, staff meetings, early close events, etc.)
HEALTH & SAFETY:
- Ensure all safety and health standards are met as required by health and licensing
- Release students as needed for fever or signs of sickness
