Since 1955, PhysLab (Physicians Laboratory Services) has provided reliable laboratory services to eastern Nebraska and western Iowa and currently operates two laboratory locations in Omaha and Lincoln with over 180 employees. We take pride in our employees and our work and are looking to expand our team by adding a Client Services Technician to our lab in Omaha.

The Client Services Technician is responsible for providing a supportive link between clients and the various laboratory departments and facilitates add-on testing, delivery of results, completion of supply orders, and any other client requests, including problem resolution. The technician also fields calls and emails from patients/prospective patients regarding test availability, cost, preparation, and accessing results. This position requires excellent customer service skills and a high level of critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Prior experience in healthcare and/or customer service fields helpful but not required. Preference will be given to applicants who are willing to cross train in other areas of the department, which include more frequent handling of laboratory specimens.

This is a Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. shift.

Essential Functions

Receive or initiate telephone calls from or to clients regarding test, specimen, or patient information.

Obtain information from, or connect client with, the appropriate department or lab personnel for technical assistance when needed.

Navigate test directories of PhysLab and our reference laboratories to access specimen requirements, cost, CPT codes, etc.

Locate, re-label, aliquot, and distribute laboratory specimens when additional testing is requested.

Utilize the laboratory information systems (LIS) of PhysLab and our reference laboratories to facilitate requested changes from clients or other lab personnel.

Send results to clients, other healthcare providers, and patients via interface, fax, email, and mail according to company policy and HIPAA Privacy Rule.

Accurately document contacts in LIS.

Monitor multiple processes to ensure appropriate follow-up, such as: confirming receipt of STAT results, printing and sending extended reports, tracking and confirming LIS alerts, regularly reviewing LIS outbound queue and acting to correct reporting delays.

Communicate requests and changes by accurately completing appropriate forms.

Display professionalism and respect for others in all interactions with clients, patients, co-workers, and managers.

Maintain confidentiality of all laboratory information according to laboratory policy and HIPAA Privacy Rule.
