Easterseals DC MD VA offers a unique opportunity for a highly motivated and polished operational leader and clinical professional to manage the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic. The successful candidate will operate the Clinic to the highest standards of efficacy and quality; be an excellent public spokesperson with funders, dignitaries, and media; and serve as a member of the Easterseals Senior Leadership Team. The Clinic is an affiliate of the Cohen Veterans Network (CVN).

Position Summary

The Director, The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic is also a Vice President of Easterseals and be a member of our organizational Leadership Team. We seek a visionary executive who will excel at:

  • Leading the Clinic, including recruiting top-notch staff; delivering services of the highest impact and quality; managing operations to ensure access, quality, and efficiency; conducting outreach to ensure that veterans and military family members who need services are aware of and use the Clinic; and supporting the Easterseals Development team to raise funds to support the Clinic’s operating costs
  • Advocating for the Clinic and Easterseals, including serving as a public spokesperson in the highly visible Washington, DC market as well as interacting with dignitaries, government/NGO agencies and the press

The Director will be a proven leader with demonstrated success leading both clinical and operational teams to deliver exceptional outcomes on a timely basis while managing to budget.

The Director will report directly to the President & Chief Executive Office of Easterseals and will lead a diverse team of clinicians and administrative professionals. The Director will also partner closely with Easterseals’ Senior Leadership as well as other members of the Easterseals team to ensure the success of the program and the organization as a whole and will partner with CVN to deliver quality care and support the Network as a whole.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Clinical Care and Management

  • Oversee the evaluation, monitoring, and modification of clinical and non-clinical processes, protocols, performance objectives, productivity benchmarks, compliance measures, provider workflow planning and provider scheduling activities in accordance with clinical and the CVN guidelines.
  • Maintain the Clinic as a high-quality, responsive mental health service to veterans residing in and around the nation’s capital and assist the CVN in promoting awareness among key policymakers about the MFC and the CVN.
  • Monitor the clinic’s performance to ensure that program services and operations are in compliance with all applicable regulatory and licensing agencies and to maintain CARF accreditation.
  • Liaise with the CVN around clinic performance and topics that are pertinent to the network (e.g., communications, branding, billing, training, funding).
  • Continuously increase number of clients served and counties served in the DC metro area.
  • Provide high quality direct clinical care.

Administration and Operations

  • Provide vision and leadership to a team of clinicians, case managers, outreach workers, support service providers, communications, billing, and administrative staff. Provide overall supervision for the Clinic’s clinical and non-clinical staff and ensure that they have the professional development and training necessary to operate and maintain a high-functioning, CARF-accredited clinic.
  • Provide financial and clinical oversight of the Clinic, monitor, and enforce compliance and oversee reporting including developing and managing to the annual budget and overseeing EHR use/compliance, scheduling, and insurance billing.
  • Ensure that the Clinic is fully aligned and integrated within Easterseals by leveraging our programs to provide wrap-around services for Clinic clients and their families and by leveraging Clinic services for families being served through Easterseals programs.
  • In collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders, design and implement rigorous evaluation system and use evaluation findings to help inform programmatic, policy and fiscal decisions.
  • Contribute meaningfully to the success of Easterseals overall operations by serving as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, providing input on key decisions, and leading special projects to enhance the organization as appropriate.

Communications and Marketing

  • Work closely with CVN’s and Easterseals’ Communications and Marketing Teams to raise awareness of the Clinic, CVN, and Easterseals to promote use of our services, public recognition of the vital role of our services in the community, and financial support.
  • Be an effective spokesperson with dignitaries, the media, and potential donors.
  • Oversee clinic outreach and foster collaboration with national and local veteran-serving organizations and government agencies.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s or Doctorate in mental health related field required
  • Licensed Clinician (Social Worker, Counselor, or Psychologist) with expertise in evidenced-based trauma treatment. Must be licensed or license-eligible in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia
  • Demonstrated financial and operations management experience required; experience billing third-party payers preferred
  • Experience diagnosing and treating PTSD, depression, anxiety, as well as co-morbid diagnoses (e.g., substance use disorder, insomnia) with evidenced-based treatments and providing clinical supervision in these areas required
  • Training in cognitive behavioral therapy and supervision of cognitive behavioral therapy required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in leading, managing, and/or supervising within a clinical setting and 10 years of clinical experience.
  • Veteran, military family member, or experience treating military clients preferred
  • Track record of building, supporting and facilitating teams, including demonstrated success as an effective coach and mentor to staff
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to digest and distill complex subjects into clear messages
