Salary Range: $43.4100 - $67.2500 /hour
The Registered Nurse provides quality-nursing care in accordance with the California Nurse Practice Act, incorporates Perioperative care modalities and utilizes the nursing process, based on evidence-based outcomes to meet patient care needs. The population served is the pediatric, adult and geriatric patient requiring surgical or procedural intervention. The RN may care for patients requiring the following service: Cardiac, Neurosurgery, Orthopedic, General, Gynecology, EENT (Eyes, ears, nose & throat), Gastroenterology, Cosmetic, Thoracic, Vascular, interventional radiology and Bariatric through a continuum of care including pre-procedure, intra-procedure and post-procedure.

- Participates in maintaining a safe patient care environment.
- Demonstrates leadership skills by directing personnel and establishing collegial relationships with others.
- Demonstrates competence and sensitivity in caring for multicultural patient/families by adapting the Plan of Care based on cultural needs identified.
- Follows evidence based clinical standards when formulating the patient Plan of Care/problem list.
- Demonstrates ability to work in a multicultural team environment and is respectful of the cultural diversity of the workforce and patients we serve.
- Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct. Supports Hoag Hospital’s, Patient Care Services, Perioperative Service’s and Unit’s mission.
- Participates in the continuous quality improvement process.
- Maintains a working knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures; this knowledge may include the use of specialized instrumentation, Quality Control requirements, and preventive maintenance.
- Float to Pre-Op, PAS and GI Lab as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Active, California RN Licensure
- BLS, ACLS and PALS Certifications
- A minimum of 3 years of RN experience
- Call responsibility within the department
- Demonstrates effective communication, interpersonal skills, organizational ability, knowledge of proper body mechanics, safety measures and infection control, ability to follow instructions, knowledge of age of population served, and additional skills and knowledge of equipment may be required for hire into some patient care departments or role
- If BSN has not been obtained upon hire then the Clinical Nurse I must begin the BSN program within one year of the hire date and obtain their BSN within two years of starting the program
Job Preferences:
- BSN
- PACU, GI, outpatient, critical care, and telemetry short stay services experience.
